My smallest kite is 5M Vari Condore 1.
I use it on both TT and surf board.

My most frequently uded kite is my 5M kite.

I use it 15 times in just one month. If the wind is stronger, I windsurf with 3.3 sail.
If the wind is lighter, I use my 7M Vari kite. I also have 9M Vari kite, but I have used less than 5 times this year.

Where do I live? I live in Penghu, Taiwan. It is probably the windiest place in Asia.

6m Renegade. Works great in low 20's and up w/ a 6'2" surfboard(weigh 195). Only gets used in central coast CA and baja. Best size Renegade for waves IMHO

I have a 5m2 ENova2 as my smallest.

It is a kite with extreme depower - and I love that.

I have tried many other 5m2 kites, both other Takoon kites and also other brands - and they have all had the same problem: They PULL too much when they are turned !

Thats the last thing you would ever want a high wind wave kite to do - as this will totally spoil your ride, and you can not ride freely anymore - and sometimes you have to ride downwind instead of perpendicular up the wave, because of this unwanted pull

Generally, I like that the smaller the kite - the more depower they should have, and reverse - the bigger the kite, the more power (camber/foil).

Because of the windspeed downwind, you need way more depower in small kites, than in big ones IMO.

And also because you use the really big ones (10-12m2) for jumping and TT fun also, where you want hangtime - and in all cases you want power with these.

But for the smallest kite, I want it to have almost unlimited depower (no such thing I know - but still, way more than typical).

So instead of having a 3 or 4m2 that will be used very rare - I can use my 5m2 on these EPIC days as waves are usually huge.

And when it is "lighter" wind, the 5 will still be able to be used, as these sizes ALWAYS works in waves is my experience, because they are so agile and generate apparent wind easily, so no problem

I dont know what others experience is regarding their smallest kite and power/depower/turning power ?

Obviously only an issue when riding waves - but here they are used so often, although the 7m2 are the most used size around here

Incredible kite, love to ride it. Fast, powerful, perfect for bigair or loopsessions.

I have a Rebel 5m and i use it a lot. With a waveboard i ride it in comfort until 40 knots, not-so-at-ease until 45 knots, with TT, 50 knots it still ok, but just for the ride as everything gets nuke (wind, waves, spray).

The Best Kiteboarding team has been testing very small kites here 4m and 3,5m and with great success, they look very smooth in the water (great riders too, of course).

If i could afford it i would add a 4m to my quiver. 5m+7m+9m gives me a super wind-range and i can't change any size without sacrificing the good overlap.

The closest thing i know (and still have it) is the Rebel 2007 7m. I think it more wind than my current 5m. BUT it is really unstable and mine, due to it's age and high wind usage, is almost falling apart!

Best Kahoona V3 5,5
- just love that kite! - fly i mostly on B-setting with a 50 bar. Have bin using it in up to 61 knots (even though that was way way to much) - use it a lot since we have a lot of strong wind over here and it has a good low end as well.

But the smallest I have flown at home is Best Kahoona V3 3,5 (a school kite - so not my own) but that was just scary to loop hehe. I prefer being overpowered on a 5,5...

That is a pretty good looking forecast! Penghu didn't look very windy when the penguins were surfing there in that movie Surf's Up. The surf looked nice and clean. Oh wait, that was Pen Gu. Nevermind...
