4'8" surfboard in a Golf bag?

I have an NSI 'Deceiver' golf bag which fits up to 150x45cm as far as i remember.

I want to stop travelling with 2 twin tips and 2/3 kites and start taking a TT and a surfboard.

Wondering if anyone has tried either the Placebo surf-skate, the Firewire Sweet Potato, or a custom-shaped board.

Do they fit well? Can a 4'10" fit in a golf bag?

Does the rocker make it hard to load up a bag?

Do they hold up to the abuses of travelling?

Do they ride well for kitesurfing?

Are they any good for paddle surfing when the wind is down?

Any feedback is appreciated. If anyone knows of a kite-specific 4'8" or 4'10" please give a shout out.

I've used the older Naish global 5'0'' in the naish golf bag. I left eh footstraps on. That board is pretty narrow compared to yours. The Naish golfbag has an extension, a zipper you can open to get the nose out if the board is too long. Just make sure you pad around the boards.

The new naish skater is about 4'8'' and should fit (make sure the width is good though. In my NSI I'm not sure if I ever had a surfboard. I've heard of people surfing the short skater, but I have no idea how that would work. :-)

For surfboards just make sure there is nothing sharp and pointy in with the board...apart from that it is always a coin toss when you put something on a plane...they can mess up anything.

The Naish skater does look sweet. Not sure if I can find one in time at a decent price.

I might end up going for a North Skimfish, LF wakesurfer custom, or the Placebo/Sweet Potato.

Basically a travelling directional board that will fit in the NSI bag. The dimensions say 4'10" x 20".

Has anyone fit any such board in this particular bag?

Just found a 4'10" Placebo surfskate in a surf shop and it fits!

Big Winds (great shop in the Gorge) confirms that the Naish skater 4'8" fits. That would be my first choice but the price is still way up there for a niche board.

The North Skimfish is still up in the air. The North Nugget would be a more fun (and pricey) choice, but it's 5'0".

Going to test a 4'8" and 4'10" sweet potato tomorrow, may purchase.

For reference the Placebo is 4'10" x 19.25 x 2.20
while the sweet potato is 4'8 x 20 x 2 1/8
and the other sweet potato is 4'10 x 20 1/4 x 2 1/8

2 cool custom surf-specific shapes by local shapers here are the fartknocker by Stewart Surfboards in San Clemente, and the tombstone by Infinity Surfboards in Dana Point. They can both be shaped to 4'10 with a stub nose and with thick glass.

I know a local with a cool splitboard-type design, maybe he'll post here.

Any thoughts on whether north nugget or skimfish would work better for ultra light winds <10 knots?
