Kiteboarding in Bali

Postby The_Young_Muse » Mon Jan 16, 2012 7:47 pm

Hi guys,

I will be travelling to Bali in June this year for a wedding and as luck would have it, the wind seems to pick up around that time :D

Now I've trawled the web and it came up with some pretty good info but I would just like to get some info from those who have visited and experienced kiting in Bali personally (and preferably unbiased).

I live and kite in Cape Town, South Africa and my quiver consists of '09 7m Waroo, '12 9 & 11m Switchblade and '10 13m Waroo. I generally only go kiting when the wind exceeds 20 knots on my 9m. I'm 6ft3 and 83kgs and ride a 140 TT Cabrinha Custom.

Now the following -

1) Should I take any kit with me or should I try and rent when I'm there? If so, what kiteshop would you recommend?

2) Any spots you would recommend - I don't mind waves but sadly have not taken to wave-riding, yet. Or anything that I should avoid? Personal experiences?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

The wind is pretty light in Bali.Sadly, 20kn is not common at that time of year. If you take kit, take only your 12 and some booties are not a bad idea either.

Hi

Most of the kitesurfing is done in Sanur. We have a kite school there and we rent gear. We are located at Jalan Pantai Karang not too far from Hyatt. email me at neil@clubkite.asia when you are going.

Cheers

Hello there,
if you wait for 20 knots I doubt that you will even touch the water!
Bring your bigger kite and you will get for sure some good days.
Bye Jankie
