I've been looking at getting a surf style board recently, for three reasons:

- Something different to play around on
- Having fun in small waves
- A mellow light-wind board

I don't want to spend much money, so am not looking at kitesurfing boards. I'm looking at cheap surfing boards.
I've read lots of posts on this forum and articles, but am finding it difficult to evaluate potential boards.

I would love you opinion on this board:

I'm thinking of combo-ing it with these foot straps:

What do you think:
- A waste of money for kiting?
- Not ideal, but good to muck around on?
- Sweet as?

Cheers in advance :D .

not sure thats even glassed over the foam but some kind of shrink wrap.

Fun for your kids to paddle around in the shorebreak, but have a look at the plastic fins and how they are secured to the board through with simple plugs.

you would snap that real quick under a kite.

you will crash it and for light wind you don't need straps.

Thanks for the replys.

Hmm sounds like this might be a waste of money.

Anyone else had experience with a similar board, or can offer their thoughts?

What about buying a used surfboard instead - dont cost much, and then you can sail/surf till it dies :thumb:

I like the quote "Custom molded shape" = a contradiction as anything custom is one off, and the "Coated with waterproof resin"
Very unprofessional...
6.15kg (and they are usually optimistic) is a lot of weight for a 5'8''.

Stay away. Not only is it garbage for kiting, its looks to be extremely wide. For me and most other people I know kiting on a large width fish is hard. They are so wide its really hard to do good fast turns and its a really mellow board. Also they are really heavy and are hard to air and you get better will be extremely frustrating.

If that board is your price range Find a used board 100-200 and have a blast. I don't know if you have craigslist there but its really awesome to find decent cheap boards. Even if the board has some repairs as just starting to ride you'll be fine wen you get better flip it and get a better board.

Dont even bother with the straps its alot more rewarding to do it the man way....STRAPLESS!!!!!!

haha just messing.

Like everyone already said get a used surfboard you will be glad you did. Those soft top boards are heavy perform like crap and some even soak up a little water like a sponge making it heavier while you ride and handle even worse than they already do.

I think custom can also refer to "something specific to a gruop", not necessarily a one off kind of thing. Ie it is designed for kiteboarding..if the ad is directed to kiters.

Hi all - thanks so much for your feedback. You've really helped my decision. I'm not going not going to get this one. Cheers for saving me time and money!

I'll keep an eye out for a second hand surfboard, probably going to aim for something still around 5"8 as I weigh in at 65kg.
