worn bridals are the first thing that needs replacing on kites.
I think the benefits of pulleys / rings is way worth the off chance that in a couple of years you might have to replace a pulley, or a worn bridle line.
Every time I try a kite without pulleys, its almost like riding a C-kite, as soon as I sheet out past half way, the back lines just go slack and I cant steer.
Also I feel the depower comes much more gradually with pulleys, as if you can feel the kite "sheeting out" gradually as the pulley moves up the line.
I guess its a bit of a personal preference issue though, some people probably like that locked in feel, and yeah, if they get used to riding it, they probably might even prefer it to pulleyed bridles.
