These are the new "EPIC SLIDER METAL PULLEYS" from Epic kites. It is very hard to please every body. Some people like "O" rings and others like Pulleys. So we decided to combine these 2 systems and come up with the Epic Slider Metal Pulleys. These sliders come in set of 2 with a line attachment for $18 a set. You can buy them on our ONLINE STORE.

I think the benefits of pulleys / rings is way worth the off chance that in a couple of years you might have to replace a pulley, or a worn bridle line.
Every time I try a kite without pulleys, its almost like riding a C-kite, as soon as I sheet out past half way, the back lines just go slack and I cant steer.
Also I feel the depower comes much more gradually with pulleys, as if you can feel the kite "sheeting out" gradually as the pulley moves up the line.
I guess its a bit of a personal preference issue though, some people probably like that locked in feel, and yeah, if they get used to riding it, they probably might even prefer it to pulleyed bridles.

The Antal low friction rings appear to be made of hard anodized aluminium. The anodizing provides a thin layer of aluminium oxide (sapphire!) which greatly increases hardness, abrasion resistance and corrosion resistance.



I do not know how durable this is in practice. Maybe a GIN rider can tell us?

brinell hardness of 7075-T6 Aluminum is 150 while 316 steel has a hardness of 217. The chart of common material properties don't really matter since you don't make sliders out of garbage you have laying around the house, you make it out of 7075-t6 6061-t6 (brinell hardness 120), 316 steel, or some other strong alloy. 316 is preferred for marine applications because it has better corrosion resistance than 304 steel.
