Well, what if it was a 4.9L? would you just round up to 5.0? Could be the same way with lots of kites out there... Think of the 12m as 11.9sq. You won't call the kite a 11.5 since its over .5 and the .9 is easy to round up to 12m. Or maybe you do and sell it as a 11.5 and then riders will freak out how much more powerful it is... Snakeoil?

I thought we're talking about the RPM? Lots of [1st] there... Well what can I say.... Its the kiteboarding Industury.. FULL OF MONKEYS... and that goes double for the majority of riders, including myself...

Slingshot has been innovative on so many levels on both kite and wake; So we might as well callem' out.. You don't like it then that's your problem and since this was a specific Slingshot post managed by me,I can say whatever I want within this post. Never do you see me hijak post/topics that don't relate to SS products and when [fact or fiction] stray to far in my posts.. thats' fine because I'm the one that started this whole-mess. Ever thought useless "banter" like this "similar to other hot topics" stay on the front page so long... :naughty:

sooner or later some good info will get squezzed out! Like this :thumb:

I got no problem with rounding to the nearest half meter up or down, that totally makes sense but Slingshot was earlier accused of selling a 10.5 square meter canopy kite as 12m kites... if that is the direction of the industry then there needs to be a change in how sizes are defined... just sayin....
if you guys are the only ones stretching the boundaries of what is acceptable sizing, then maybe you should reconsider...

So I suppose moving forward anyone who asks me what size kite to buy for SWO I will answer 12m except slingshot kites, those ones you will have to buy at least a 13m.... :P but don't worry it has the power of a 20m and turns like a 5m

yeah
and the only "industry first" right now applied to slingshot is "industry first pumpless kites".
may be you should sack all of those recently hired marketing specialists, and start making good kites instead of talking and writing them great. and with the saved money start supply the (10$) pumps with the kites again?

So has anyone put the 2012 10m and 12m RPMs next to each other (inflated and deflated) as was done in the past thread on this issue? I had a 2009 RPM set of 6 8 10 & 12 and lost the 12 out of a pickup truck last fall. While on that trip we had placed the 10 over the 12 and there was, as seen in the photos of the other post, so little difference in the size. I had always felts there was minimal power advantage to the 12 over the 10, just slower. So I don't want another RPM 12 as my low end kite (155 lbs and mostly surfboard) unless there's truly a difference. My son rides my old RRD Hypertypes (he's the same weight as I am) and the 12 Hypertype would so out perform the 12 RPM in lightwind conditions that there was no comparison. I want a 12 that's a 12 and I don't want the 14 RPM as it too slow. Any one with 2012 hands on comparison. Oh, I love my RPM's! Just want something that works for the low end.

after 5 years of doing this the "bi-polar" in me is coming out.... ha! :naughty:

just funny how side-tracked this can get since it was just a post regarding a Kite Catalog. Over the hijakers and those that just have to put a negative spin on everything. Don't like it let it die. But if you want a "walking dead post" then I'm game... :naughty:
