I got it using this:http://itouchmap.com/latlong.html input into decimal boxes. He moved east quite a bit. Looks like he is 2/3 of the way to Saudi Arabia.

Indeed he must have fixed his kite / managed to find his board and started to sail for 61 minutes before he sent another 911 HELP at 13:40:04 http://masterkiteboarding.com/index/redseacross.php. Now he's drifting downwind, anyone who has detailed and up to date wind directions ( vessels, weather stations ) for the area please post it here as general marine forecasts say N - NW but from what we see it is not that clear

nekwan,

I know this is a very sensitive issue, but don't think Bille meant anything disrespectful and I'm sure he's praying hard as anyyone else for your friend.

It sounds like Jan was well prepared and is doing his best out there, so we should all just keep thinking in a positive way.

Hopefully the Polish government can/or has stepped in to help or influence a more thorough and swift rescue effort. I would not hesitate to notify the US Navy as I am sure they have infrared detection for night search. (There are probably other EU warships in the area as well and they should be pressured to step up the search).

I really, really hope for a positive outcome for Jan.

That being said, the current situation shows that he was not well prepared. I hope he lives and can learn from it.

This is his second night at sea. How much better can you prepare? he is wearing a suit, sending GPS singnals relaunching kite during the day. What? the wind died how can you predict that. Escort? Even at America's Cup sailors die nobody has a budget to follow everybody to the sea.
