Open competition: silliest questions on Kiteforum

Postby alexrider » Wed Mar 14, 2012 6:45 pm

The ranking so far:
1. Why are pumps cylinders and pistons round? :winner2:
2. Why are pump bases flat?
....

The 2 first will be very difficult to dislodge.
Who will be 3rd on the podium? :winner1:
Questions need not be topic titles.
The silliness of the question can be feigned, as I suspect the top 2 are (am I being gracious?).

And for the most relevant question:
1. How about an off topic section on the forum ?

Shame you are not the real, the great Robby!
But did you only realise my post was not a question?
Mind you; I did think of putting my post on top of the podium, but it would have been cheating... and narcissistic.

I also suggest: open competition for the silliest answer.

Thanks for your contribution Billie.

Updated ranking so far:

1. Why are pumps cylinders and pistons round? :winner2:
2. Why are pump bases flat?
3. Do they really need to be so wide at the back?

No.3 needs more votes to dislodge the top 2.

They say there are NO stupid questions....

Not sure what in human nature make one pompously point out silliness.....
while contributing nothing.

seems more silly than anything. :jump:

Can only agree with you nobby raish :thumb:

And #1 on the list is not a question, but simply a joke and also some making fun out of others "serious" and often quite ingenious questions when you look a bit deeper 8)

#2 is IMO a REALLY good question, apparently above most of the readers answering here

#3 is also a really good question, as for many the wide backs are utterly unusable and definitely a no-go :x

IMO the most stupid question by far - but understandable why so many ask so would not even call it a stupid question, just meaningless, is:

What is the best kite ?

Hilarious and makes absolutely no sense answering  (apart from a major storm of answers, trying to sell their own product or belief)

:D Peter

So you do agree there are stupid questions after all?
If indeed there were a topic What is the best kite ?, it would immediately take place number 1.
I am aware you defended the flat base pump question as a valid one, and that alone justifies your intervention here. Isn't anyone allowed to take it same way you took the round cylinder pumps: as the joke it is? I am still not convinced it (the flat base pump question) wasn't meant to be a joke.
PS: "There are NO stupid questions" sounds quite a pompous (and politically correct) statement, especially the emphasis on NO.
The nuance between meaningless, stupid and silly is quite subtle. "Meaningless" certainly appears more acceptable to you lot.

Hey guys, please, don't take this topic seriously. It was meant to be just the opposite.

You are not serious, are you?

THAT was a silly question, wasn't it?
