Airush 2012 New Sectors -- 54, 60, and 66cm V3

Great new selection of boards on the Sector V3.
Im 71 kilos and im undecided on buying a specific light wind or spend the same amount of money and buy a big a$$ sector!!!
My first thought is a Epic infinity 15 to enjoy light wind but i have to rely on the general hype because i cant demo.
My second choice is a sector 60 or a sector 66.
Both options cost me about $1500
would it be to much overkill to buy the v3 66 to use with a 12m best nemesis and have the ultimate light wind setup? can i expect 8-10 knots on this gear?
i can moan the lawn and hold my ground with my 12m in a 135 x 47 on 12- 14 knots but thats not fun!
Ive never used a directional race board so im on the fence.
Can you guys pitch inn?
the only sure thing is that boards tend to last more than kites!

Or buy a used or 2011 raceboard for half that price <$750.

I've found that learing to ride a race style board is a lot more fun in sub 10 knots than riding a giant kite with a twin tip. When it's blowing less than 10, water is nice and flat and you can really fly!

Also, if you're going to be riding with a raceboard, go for a high aspect ratio kite, not the infinity.

The thing about used race boards is that it is very easy to get stuck with a low performing race board. The shaping and fins on race boards went through revolutions in the last three years. It was even faster than the change to bridled kite (bow, SLE, etc.) when a whole lot of them really sucked and fewer were great. As a dealer, we've been offered all sorts of deals from companies trying to dump not so hot race boards.

Full disclosure -- we've been completely satisfied with the Sectors.

Buying used is not an option because i have to ship this to chile !!need to pay taxes and need a buying invoice!!
can someone make me a deal and put in the invoice one third of the price?ahhahaha that would be great!! i have to pay 50% on cif so the $1500 becomes $2250 with all taxes and freight! very steep to buy gear!!most off the time i marry my gear because i live on a farm and kite with three friend who buy gear only if something falls apart! most of this guys kite in gear that is 7 years old !
my collection of boards beggins with a liquid force lithium board 2004 and a liquid force spectrum 2005 funy enough i still have them collecting dust!!

I used the V3 54 today with a 16m Raven 3 in 15-20knots and it was superb.

It clearly is no out-and-out race board, but it glides over chop, turns effortlessly off waves and jumps brilliantly (for a race board).

I found that when I wasn't really lit, it felt a bit sticky due to the relatively softer rails, but as the wind picked up, the board came alive. The gybing was incredibly easy & although the board speed is not really comparable to a full-on race design, it was super comfy and something you could really enjoy, rather than being scared sh1tless the whole time. In chop or small waves, as it has so much control and user-friendliness I am sure it would be faster than a more dedicated race board.

But more importantly, as a summer board for blasting and boosting in a sea breeze, I can't think of a better board... well done Airush. Just a pity I had to give the board back !!!

How does the 54 behave in chop and windy days(25knts++)??

Im after a confy board that goes fast, but without being the heavy/expensive and leg hurting race board

The V3 54 would be fine and having used it yesterday, I had no leg ache at all (although I cycle everyday, I still feel it on my legs with my full on race board).

Although the 54 would be usable in 25 knots (more so than probably any other race design), in that wind, I would be on a surf board.

I used the 54 and 60 cm boards in light wind for free riding, cruising and small surf.
Versions 1.0 and 1.5 are my favorites, as they have a looser ride and are less racy than later versions.
My 12m Rally is all I need to move my 80kg and have fun in 10.5 knots 12 mph..

54- Easy turning and toeside riding is effective. Requires significantly more kite power.
The 54 with surfboard fins is a fun light wind wave board.
Even with the surf fins, it still has greater upwind ability than a surfboard or a door.

60- Turns get sticky and toeside is awkward. But definitely the choice for bigger guys and lighter wind.
When board speed drops to 4 or 5 mph, the extra width keeps you on a plane.
The 60 continues charging upwind in the lulls, when the 54 is forced to bear off.

Both sizes have smooth rides in chop and land ok from nice floaty jumps.

Finally receive my 54 yesterday , at 158 lbs, my plan is to use it as my light wind board.
Bottom is sand finish or no gloss, top and rails are gloss finish but with grip finish between
the front and back pads.

Waiting for the 2 additional fins for 4 fin set up for a better performance upwind in light wind.
Can't wait to try it!

Yep, I received my 54 on friday and could try it in 15-20 knots, board feels different from my previous Monaro 1 but after 1/2 hour, so easy full downwind, full control.
Upwind is Ok with the carving fins, also waiting for the 4 race fins setup.
Very easy to carve and go upwind toeside with the 3 straps setup !
Footstraps sucks... Compared to the 3 years old monaro straps,
not comfy and only tuneable with screwdriver, big step backwards !
Not a big problem, the board is lovely !
Hope the construction with last as good as the Monaro 1,
after 3 years of jumping with my 95 kgs the deck is still very hard !
In the same time I broke 3 waveboards from other brands...
