Hello,
I've pretty much decided on a kite and harness, its just the board I'm having trouble with. i was told i needed a bigger size board about a 130x40 or 133x40 for my weight and wind range. My first choice was the Brunotti Riptide but it only comes in smaller sizes. Then i found the Onyx it appears to be exactly what I'm looking for, although is the fact its for guys make a difference??
Any suggestions would be great! Thanks :)

Hello kiter7,
hard to tell the right choice of a board for you, when we don't know your weight. Buying a men's board won't be much of a difference. Many girl riders do so, even at professional level.

Can't tell you anything about Brunotti boards though.

Oh i weigh 65kg and the average wind where i live is 10-15 knots. I also decided on the Slingshot Rally 10M and Mystic Burna harness, if that helps :p

A 130x40 should be fine then, 133x40 won't be bad either. I'd probably go with the former, but if you really ride 10-15 knots a lot, then 133x40 might be a better option. Better to ask your locals about it.

If you are looking for a girl specific board then Best KB Pro comes in 130x40:

My girlfriend rides the Brunotti Cherry Blossom 130x39 (for girl), nice wood board with great overall performance and great graphics!
I think Kitegirl Magazine (available on-line also) this month (number 02) has a review of few twin-tips for girls.

130 x 39-40 is a number that will never fail you in any condition if you have one board.

My girlfriend is 1.65m height for 57 Kg and rides the board from light wind to modearte wind (20 Kts) no problem (intermediate level).
But you need to ride it with a 12-13 m kite in your wind condition.
If you want to ride the 10m then a 132-133 x 40-41 would be a better choice.
I think Cabrinha Caliber XO comes in 133x40.
Having said that there are so many good boards out there for girls nowadays, try to get a test ride if you can.

There are quite a few boards designed for lighter riders.
http://www.naishkites.com/2012/boards/raskal.html
As far as I understand one of the bigger problems for smaller / lighter riders is that a regular board can feel very hard since the flex are made for the bigger riders. The second issue is the foot straps. Most boards are made with footstraps for bigger riders, so they feel lose for smaller feet. I don't really know, but it would seem to me that a good strategy would be to read the reviews and ask other 'smaller' riders.
