Anyone had any experience with the 2011 Riot LW? Interested the turning speed , already have a SB 2010 14m so don't want anything slower than this just something to give a bit more power at the lower end.

Hi Wallyman, I own a Riot 17 LW and I'm happy with it. The turning speed is very good, altough I never rode an SB 14 so I can't make any comparison. The low end of the Riot is really impressive: I can ride and stay upwind with no effort in 8-10 knots with my Nobile Flying Carpet (160x46). Also high end is good: till 15/16, some depower and you're in full control. When it's over 16, you can enjoy your way back to the beach to switch your sail till 18. After, it's a war. The perfect range is, for me (78 kgs.) from 9 to 13/14. The LW is very light (I think the weight is the same of the 15) and well balanced. It stays in the air from about six but you need not less than 8 and a big board to ride. After 10, a standard sized board is ok. About speed, it's quite fast (remember it's a 17) and predictable, very stable but not very grunty (that is, in my opinion, a very good thing when you're overpowered). The kite rides smoothly and turns quickly for a 17, it never pulls you too hard.

Maybe also the Infinity is a lght wind machine to test. I bought the Core simply because I also own two smaller Riot XR (11 and 7), same bar, same behaviour etc. Anyway I think that there is a nice bunch of light wind kites out there now, I don't know which is the best but the choice is far wider than in the past. Maybe it all depends on the rider's level: in my case (intermediate), I don't care too much about looping, big jumps, radical tricks etc., I simply want a kite to ride and stay upwind in light wind (8-12 knots, a very common situation where I live, Como Lake, Italy, during hot summer months).
having the ozone zephyr for 1 and 1/2 year and now riding core riot xr2 17m i would say they are 2 different kites. What matters is what you want to do . If you aim the lowest end and you want only to trip at low winds go for zephyr. It flies at the end of the wind window , nice bar and feedback and very very good apparent air production. I went to xr2 because it flies a bit more inside the wind window , jumps are loftier and more close to freestyle kites and you can loop that kite on transitions and having some slack on lines when desired.
As for the turning speed i dont know your kite never had the chance of trying it , but both zeph and core can do from 12 o clock 2 kiteloops till it hit the ground. Core turns much faster though than zephyr.

Had a session at Bridlington UK last Saturday on the Core XR2 17m put some more knots in the back lines giving it more bottom end still on short lines Board 135/42
Marcus was on his Best 17m Taboo long lines which still had more bottom end to get out over the waves Board 133/41
But when the Core XR2 had got up to speed it had more upwind and jump ability
Getting a Core XR 2 19m demo next week so I will feedback on it
