These are generally regarded as two of the biggest boosting kites on the market. Have any of you ridden both of these? If so, how do they compare in terms of:

- boost
- hangtime
- soft landings (for less skilled boosters)
- wind range
- stability
- gust handling

Any other rocket kite rocket ships that should be in this category?

there are a few real boosters out there, i would say demo them!!!
everybody has his own preferences, only you can feel what suits you the best.
i am crazy about the epic screamers, but there will be people out there who like the best nem., ozone edge, airush varial etc. better, they are all right because their kites fulfill their wishes.
try them all and you will get your answers.

Just think if Best did buy 2 get 3 again or dropped their prices down to Switch levels.

I have, honestly not the best to write up on it though as it was a 2010 model hp compared to the new 2012 3G ltd I own.

But I will comment here on what I can

- boost
Epic definitely gets you up higher

- hangtime
Again the epic has more hang time here, but it's a fine art trimming and sheeting to maximize your glide!

- soft landings
Again all about sheeting you can land 90% kites butter smooth as long as you time it right

- wind range
Didn't get to test the hp too well, was using it in 20kts.
My epic I rate from 12 (not jumping) to being able to handle gusts of around 35 with a still responsive kite. Again comes down to skill.

- stability and gusts handling
The hp is great! As is the screamer but the hp has an edge here. The gusts are only really bad for the epic at the upper end of the wind range. The new screamer is essentially a bridled C kite, meaning great amounts of slack can be produced at will, which can mean that if moves aren't landed correctly the kite can have a lot of slack in the lines. Again comes down to skill!

Just my two cent, don't take this as the definitive write up. Just my experiences.

Also like to say love the new ozone edge 9!!! 13 knots holding steady was doing large (12-15ft) lofty jumps. Need another 3 knots to be jumping like this on the epic!

In 2010, the Nemesis HP became the Nemesis NXG which was less about boosting big air, and more about unhooked I believe. 2008, 2009, and 2011 HPs are the high boosting ones. There wasn't much love for the 2010's...

I cannot believe that at all.

I have flown both kites. The Best was my first kite but now ride the Epic LTD. Flew the 2009 Best HP12m. Here is what I have to say.
- boost
Epic gets you higher. I found it initially pulls you fast and higher from the water.

- hangtime
Epic has more hang time but I have had big floaty jumps with the hp, just not as high. This may also be due to expirience. With the bar in the ltd deffinalty seems to hold you in the air longer.

- soft landings
Both kites offer soft landing. That really comes down to the rider sheeting in are stearing the kite at the right time.

- wind range
My epic i have flown in conditions from 18 to 33mph. (weight 215lb) If the winds are consistent at 30+ ill usually drop down in size. The best was a larger kite but I remember having to switch kites more often to get the right size when flying bests. I am now down to 2 kites.

- stability and gusts handling
This is hard to compare since i believe it comes down to skill. I learned most of my kiting on hp's and so to me it handles gusts really well. Gusts would come through adn pull harder but you could sheet out or just edge harder to avoid being dragged downwind. Not sure about the ltd as most of the flying was done in consistent winds.

Overall I enjoy the Epic more. Bigger wind range, more power, Boosts big. It is hsaped more like a C kite and loops super fast!!

I am with Toby on this one. Boosting largevwith a 9m in 13 knots sounds like bollocks.
