This sport REQUIRES "Desire and Dedication".
Anything less and they're wasting their time.

:thumb: awesome post, fully agree. I agree so much and am still laughing so hard it's difficult to type. (5 minute break) /sigh... ok anyway I got introduced to the sport while fishing off a pier in Florida, the wind was kicking that day, around 20mph.

After fishing for a while and not catching anything I decided to go to plan B, get hammered while I wait. When all of the sudden off in the distance I noticed 3 random kites pop up in the air off the beach and start heading this way (was .5 miles out at end of pier). I almost dropped my pole in the water I was so amazed, and at the same time thinking.. wtf am I doing here "trying" to catch fish.

Immediately packed up my stuff, drove home (live 3.5hrs from beach) and did some research, made some phone calls, found out pricing and realized... i got to stop drinking so much if i'm gonna do this.. at least until i get a good set of kites/boards. So i got 1/2 the lesson's i needed so far (wind died before we could finish), got a taste of the water and the power of the kite... instantly feel in love...so much in love that it's time to move closer to the beach! was thinking either Hawaii or North Carolina (outer banks) where my new addiction could be fullfilled any day

Also you people on here have been a great help in just reading your experiences and keeping my dream alive, thank you all!

can´t understand people saying this sport is hard to learn when in a couple of months, going once or twice a week, you will be having fun

think kite-surf, in his very basic form, is one of the easiest sports around

"Hey I saw you kitesurfing it looks like fun. Can I buy a board and kite from you, here's $25"

"What? You say it costs more than $25. Ok then I'll rent it, here's $5."

"What are you talking about I can't rent it without taking lessons first. Well, I have five minutes before I have to leave. Why don't you give me the lesson now? I saw you out there doing it, so I am pretty sure I know how to do it."

"Hours of lessons that cost more than $5? You must be kidding, I never had to do this when I rented a canoe. Just forget it."

sure, but who's addicted to canoes?
