A little perspective:
People are typically tribal in nature. They follow leaders, and generally try to fit in with the crowd.
Hence fashion, or trends. Many strive to be fashionable - to do, say and/or wear whatever their peers or role models do.
Whether or not people think you look like a tool for wearing your pants with the waistband below your ass is a matter of whether or not a bunch of other people are dressed that way too. That's how fashion works.
Same for Justin Bieber hair, or mixing black and brown clothes, or paddling a giant surfboard modeled on the old one-design windsurfer I paddled as a kid because it was available and I couldn't afford anything else (never dreamed that would eventually become designated a sport). A lot of fashion statements represent expressions of individuality, but ironically, only if other people are making the same statement.
The winds of fashion also apply to big dangly kiteboard jumps. And unhooked wakey stuff too. Make no mistake: someday, that won't be fashionable, and trend followers (most of us, frankly) may snicker if you do it. Why? Because you're not following the leader.
'Legit' is currently a 'trendy' term for 'fashionable'. It's more fashionable to say something's legit than to say it's trendy, at least for today. But it means the same thing.
All good. Just saying.
Cheers, James

I gave them some money, I'd give anyone who was going to make a serious video about kiting some money, I like kiting and i want to see more of it, there's not enough high quality kiting features out there.
Even though they are only showcasing certain aspects of the sport new people who start kiting to do wakestyle benefit us all via increased sales and reduced prices in the long run. If people can't see past the trivial issues of calling it 'legit' to see the greater good then that's sad. A lot of people would rather just bitch about something then get off their ass and help or do something better themselves.
I applaud them for doing something to promote the sport.

Some people kite to board, some board to kite.
It's all good.

Well, 41 hours to go and they are just over halfway there. Do people who have donated get their money back since it says it wont happen unless they get $50,000?
