longwhitecloud wrote: This is a good way to get projects going i reckon, can we pay for some way to make kitesurfing less popular - like fund another sup movie. I'll put in some money for that! For most locations, doubling the number of kiteboarders by spreading the word to the world would be the horrible. Good for racers (bigger fleets are more fun), shops, and manufacturers, but not for the average rider.

As to the original post...Go ahead make it, but do it on your own dime. A lot of Pros, Lenten, Greg Norman Jr, etc. are just rich spoiled drug addicts who can pop for thier own movie. Not gonna give my money to some dude to have a great vaca while I sit at home or work my ass off.
Oh by the way, I need 50,000 Euros for a kitesurf video since Im pissed my 75 y.o neighbor lady doesn't appreciate what I do.

After watching the Promo I found it interesting (but not surprising) that those involved are almost all tied to the industry and have offered thier "full support" to make this happen. Which I guess means come to Hatteras and party on us.
No thanks
Fuck all that BS not what RIDING is all about IMO.
And NEVER call it "boarding" as they do in the solicitation for money.
Probably not gonna fund the SSS so the pros can come get wasted and ride for two hours.

Well, what this film is about isn't attracting more people in general to start kiteboarding. We got more than enough old kooks.
It's about attracting a younger crowd. For example, on my local beach i think i'm the only one kiting under the age of 25. In comparison, i could go to my local skatepark, cable park or ski resort and find tons of younger people that loves what theyre doing and will some day help progress the sport as a whole. The reason we need to make this sport legit as a boardsport is to attract those kinds of people.
I do understand why you old people wouldnt want that though. I would imagine you can draw comparisons to the discussion about snowboarding not being allowed to ski resorts in the 80s. Lots of conservative old gapers hating what the young people do.

Easy on the old guys here! We go out to have fun, you go out to try to proof you are cool. No worries, you will get there as well...and become more respectful!
And the last thing we need on beaches is crashing kites on bystanders because of missed passes.
So, take it easy and do your thing, let the oldies do theirs!

You'd like to attract young people to kiting because they will throw down and so finally make kiting legit... Is that your story? Thanks, just trying to understand Regards fo

"just a bunch of rich spoiled drug addicts…" what do you mean? it's true, no? just kidding...sure, not respectful at all ! I know riders who don't take any drugs and focus on their performance, much better that way! But everything to their own. Let people do what they want to do...it should be a free world...just don't get into the way of others! So, respect for everything and projects for everything, simple as that! And let's hope for a nice video from the SSS, even if they don't get that funding. The idea is good for sure.
