I ride the board since last winter and tried it fist in cape town. Before that I rode the 2009 5'7 global, so I can just compare these boards. The 5'10 gives me much more surf feeling as it is wider and a bit longer (more volume). With my weight (73 Kg) I'm able to surf the wave without or minimal kite pressure. On the other side, the boards turns very well and feels quite light on my feet (strapless and strapped). Overall I'm very happy with it, but will try it in bigger waves soon... So, for my riding style there are just "pros" and no "cons"... jmopd wrote: Can you give some feedback/reviews ? Thanks

What specifically are you looking for?
It is an awesome board. I ended up choosing the bigger brother because I am heavy. I like the slightly wider tail this year. Gives a little more low end without taking away much of the top end.

Thanks WaveRider001 & tautologies.
My usual spot can be very hard on the boards, like a motocross track, with holes and bumps, especially in winter with big and strong waves. Waves can go between 1 to 5 m, generally 2 m. Strong and gusty side on winds. Down the line surf. My major concern is the resistance of the board under these conditions, the one I bought laste year was very good on surf but had some issues with the resistance.

It sounds like the conditions that board was made for. The outline is pretty narrow and straight. Fins follows the rail towards the nose, not a huge toe in, but a little bit as far as I can remember. The deck is pretty heavily reinforced. I have the bigger one, and have never been overpowered. It can hold a lot of speed and power with control. Once the waves hits the 5 meter mark, an even gunnier board might be good..it depends on how steep and clean the waves are at that point. However if you buy the board for mainly 2 m + waves that occasionally gets huge, that board is killer.

I am really interested in this thread...
Just about to either buy Naish Skater 5'9 or Naish Global 5'10
Im 100kg and 5'9 and have been kiting on small waves for 4 years. Ive a Wainman 6'1 and its really bouncy and skatey and I can easily sink it when the wind dies...so could I get away with a 5'10 Global or Skater at my weight? I hate bigger boards as I enjoy ramping over waves on the way out and jumping on something thats bigger than yourself is scary. Im just wondering if the width on the Skater would be better than the Global for my weight? Also I intend to put a front strap on the Skater just so I can hold onto it when I jump.
Thanks in advance

Thanks in advance Well first things first. I will probably never recommend having one strap on a board. Either learn to punt, or put two straps on...obviously just my opinion. I just the 6'1'' all the time. The board is solid. If it is really windy, just point the board a little into the wind as you come off the wave. I would say the skater has better low end, but from what you are describing as your main use, I would think the global is a better fit. If you Wainman is skatey could you keep it for your low end? And add the global for those more regular to lit up days? What is the specs on the wainman? The big global does not feel like a big board on you. Between the the global and skater...skater is definitely more hmm...skatey. The global cuts much better through chop...and will be a much faster board for powered riding. It really depends on the intended use. I am about 86 kg right now. The skater works fine for me in reasonable light winds...but when its even more glassy I take out the fish. I do think that what a light wind board will do for you is a little different from what a powered riding board will. A huge board board (I'm thinking width) will flatten out and leave you slipping and sliding in powered conditions...where a global type board is mean for more power, and will hold the turns with speed. Either way, I do think global is perfect for doing anything powered..even jumping. A.

Very responsive to quick turns on the wave. Smooth and dependable bottom turn..... push as hard as you like. The stiff epoxy ride is harsh in the chop, as compared to a surfboard. Quick to plane and easy to jibe. Upwind ability is just average. Naish boards have always been built tough. WW
