OK,thats a better pik,i see what you're saying
weird to have the bridle line wrap over the LE
take a picture with the kite pumped and the line
oriented as it is in flight,send it to North
they seem to be a stand up co.

These issues more of R&D not intensive enough
than simply "quality" seem to be increasing.
sucks that we have to be the after the sell R&D

Spot on what happened.
...i have never used a North kite before so i don't know and that is the only case scenario that can justify that North has a problem in the design!
My opinion
After repairing kites for the last 4 years i get to see such cracks on the leading edge in different brands and 90% of the cases are users fault-misuse! Hopefully you are in the 10% :)
Mr 10% ;-)
You can still try contacting North for this but after having a kite for 1 year it is a long shot even if you used it or not!
Own the kite way less than a year, august, and it's only may now.

@Toby
I did write it and you can't see it scratched on both sides because I only made a picture of one side, you have to trust me on that one. If needed more evidence is available.

@nobby
They (North) know.

well, prepare yourself now!

as it was with slingshot case, they will try to accuse you in some commercial activities with this kite!
something like overusing the kite in kiteschools or towing the barges in high wind conditions...

Really, North warranty doesn't even cover 12 months!?!? Thought that was pretty much standard for manufacturing defects?

Funny how you all jump on this guy, he's has what appears to be a genuine problem (well compared to the usual moaners on here). If anything it could stop other Fuse riders getting into trouble. Clear to see who the North fans are - they obviously have some clout on the way the forum is run :nono: Doubt Switch or Best would get the same reception.

Could be a manufacturing defect, or just bad design. Some early bridled kites had this problem but it shouldn't be happening on modern kites :o

Is there a stitch underneath that kevlar patch ?
If not then i guess that that Kevlar patch is stitched at the wrong direction and that it is initially designed to prevent that wear&tear.
If there is a stitch under that patch and it is doing what it is intended to do then North didn't do enough testing on that kite....

Anyway it sucks and if you got it on both sides + other kites have the same problem then no matter how old the kite is IMHO North should compensate you.

this is the same problem that Naish had in ughhhm 2006? They sent out these patches that held up perfect. Aramid / Kevlar or something like that made by 3M.

Hi Xray is not a beginner.
If he said it was on both sides then there must definitely be something to it.
If the other guy had it too, well then ....... .
So they overlooked one small point on one size in their production.
Mistakes hapen, and if they are cool, they would send out free reinforced sticky patches to their dealers to save face, who would then dish them out to the owners (new and second hand).
This will cost them a bit of effort and money, so time will tell if they are cool guys (kiters) or just business monkeys (Guys).

Does any one know where you can get this stuff? 3M don't seem to list it.
