When you say drift ..you mean long shore current at the beach going in same direction as wind ?

Well you would have totally love a session late yesterday afternoon

Drift was going opposite direction of the wind

My beach faces East and the wind was side-on SE at 10kn... was on XR3 19 + Nugget

When i got to the beach the surf was 3-4 ft and all the surfers were drifting rather quickly South

Tide was also going up and my best estimate was that the NE swell had about 1-2 kn of current

I was very powered all the time and never had to work at staying upwind at all

I actually ended up one block upwind most of the time

Waves also broke perfectly to give me incredible left rides

It was a surprise wind and swell combo....so much fun..i hope you get to experienced that one day

Take care :thumb:

How do you deal with the drift when trying to start w a Foil board in ULTRA light wind? I guess the answer is don't go in Ultra light wind until you learn to Foil.

If the current is downwind, it simply means the actual windspeed is "the current speed" less, which is not much.

If on a hydrofoil, it means nothing regarding going upwind, as they blast upwind more than 45 degrees sometimes :thumb:

On other boards, it is a PITA, as you ride and ride (on TT or Waveboards) and getting nowehere

As simple as that, bodydragging for your board and everything is exactly the same :D
