Just waiting on my new kite to come in and want to know some ways to keep your kite is good condition. What do you guys do to ensure the quality of your kite? Hose it down after use? Let it dry before packing it up? Let me know! Not every day that I spend a grand on something, wanna make sure I take care of her!

Let it dry before you pack it. Don't roll it up too tight bad for the valves. If the wind isn't blowing pack up your kite, so it doesn't sit there in the sun bleaching. If it's a hot day, crack open the trunk that's about it.

But remember every single thing in your kite can be repaired, valves put on, bridles spliced, leading edge patched, lines, bars, bladders every single thing on a kite can be repaired.

And that one guy at the launch with same crispy kite for the past three years? He's not progressing very fast.

So ride as hard as you can. Don't worry too much. Even a kite completely ripped in half can be repaired.

best piece of advice is don't leave it in your car no matter what, unless you live in siberia. the intense heat destroys bladders and valves

i dont ever rinse my kites or anything, the salt water doesnt hurt the material. it seems like a good habit to wash your bar and such though if you have metal parts on it

Always wash your bar and lines, including immersing it in a pail of water. If I have time I will unwind my lines on my yard, let them dry a bit and rewind them. Probably not necessary but I can get all of the sand off the lines and inspect everything.

When you're pumping up your kite don't stick the nozzel in to hard... will stretch the valve over time and cause air to leak out and of course don't pack your kite with either the dump or inflate valve caps in... again will stretch the valve. I learned that the hard way :) Not an issue with some brands.

Direct sunlight is a kite killer... all kites die a slow death in the sun :)

Self launching is a sure fire way to wear out your kite before it's time... depending on the launch site of course.

Examine your kite from time to time for small rips, tears, lose threads.... want to repair stuff quick so it don't get worse.
