Just wait till they make the leading edge and struts the "bladder". Coat them or make them air tight or bond the bladder material to the inside or outside of the fabric. External bladders?

I spoke about something like that not so long ago in an other post :thumb:

Tube kites of the future that will be "totally bladderless".....similar to the concept of car tires i guess

Leading edge and struts that would hold the air in securely "by themselves"
No stitching holes in LE or struts from sewing
The kite industry would have to come up with a totally new concept to secure all to the kite canopy

I always carry 2 or 3 kites. To keep the heat down in my car I use those cheap cardboard sun visors in the front window and park my car facing the sun with the kites in the trunk in the bags and throw some towels over them as well. Also let the windows down an inch as well but maybe that's not an option for everyone. The car gets hot but it's manageable.

I think no matter which LEI kite you buy there's going to be problems if you subject them to a lot of heat all the time.

i fly north and have fixed many valves. i use 3m 5200, quick dry (red label). this is a marine product and will glue the valve back on in about 4 hours, and it will never, i mean, never, come off again. sand the old valve and bladder lightly, alcohol wipe and give the valve a small thin coating of 5200 and use a washer and weight to hold the valve down while drying. you can buy 5200 in the paint section of home depot. works fantastic. never fixed a valve twice yet. i always carry this with me when i travel, and can fix a bad valve in about 5 minutes, (except for drying time). quit buying those expensive 15 dollar stick on valves, use the one that came with your kite, and you are flying again in a few hours.

Nice! Sounds like this is worth a try. I still have one North 2010 kite that I use when I am back in Delaware for the summer, I have replaced every valve and some more than once. Even the air time valves were peeling off in Puerto Rico. Going to pick some of that stuff up before I go back. :thumb:

+1 for the 3m 5200, just make sure you get the quick dry not the regular or you will be waiting 4 days to get back out.... :thumb:

Haha!!! I got bit!!

Just setting up on a 25-30kt beautiful sunny hot afternoon and boom!!... big leak around inflate valve :(
I could hear it leak in spite of the wind... which was probably a good thing cause it caught my attention and prevented me from launching... the kite went flat in less than 5min.

The LE bladder is on my kitchen table, two other valves had started to delam too so good thing I pulled the whole thing out.

I didn't think my car got that hot but apparently it did. I might start packing my kites in coolers for the summer...

+1 on the 5200, one 3 ounce $15 tube will do over 100 valve repairs.
