All that stuff about switching feet before after is all well and good but it's really a personal thing about when you move your feet. Whatever works for you is fine.

By far more important is that you need to be comfortable moving around on the board no matter what is happening. You should be able to switch before, after, during, anytime you need to depending on what is happening (especially for you getting your legs and feet from Walmart).

The key thing is there is a zone in the middle of the board that must have weight on it at all times. It stretches from level with the front foot strap back to a point behind half way between the front and back straps. If you have at least one foot pressing down in that area you can move your other foot as much as you like and the board will keep tracking and not stall or bog down. Get your weight too far forward or back and you will face plant or stall.

Even better is to visualise a line down through your torso, legs, through the central zone of the board, then up through the bar and lines in a straight line to the kite. Keep that all lined up and you will be rock solid and powered the whole way through any turns.

One you get that you just have to develop a set of moves that are fluid and comfortable for you.

Booties make for much better grip (which I guess is what your feet are made out of) and wax or deck grip between the straps helps. (It is so dumb that strapped boards come without deck grip between the straps.)

The other thing is to get comfortable riding out of the straps. It's way more fun and you can do some great moves in light winds on small waves if you can switch around quickly.

Good advice Oz

IMO just concentrate on the basics abd get really in tune witht he way the board handles. Some of the other things discussed are probably better tried after you master the basics. And recognizing that you have some special physical conditions you will adapt your skills specifically to suit yourself.
