Hello,

I am a beginner at kitesurfing. I am actually trying to make consistent waterstarts. I own a Wainman Hawaii Smoke 2012 and I have some questions

1)Which is the best settings on the Bridles. Upwind or Normal. They have told me to put it on Upwind in order to be easier for me to go upwind given that I am a beginner. Whats your opinion

2) There are two knots where the center lines have to be connected. I 've been told that in order to have more depower I have to connect the middle lines in the know which is further from the kite towards the riders is that correct?

3)How can I use the two extra grey line pigtails that come with the repair kit. Can I use them to extend the middle lines?

4)I have been reading in this forum about some Wainman settings and some of the posts refer to Fast/Medium/Slow on the middle lines. On my smoke there are only Upwind Downwind and Stock settings. Did the terminology just change on the newer models or is there a hidden setting?

Thank you all

Hey stonerhash

1. Upwind would probably suit you better for the time being, then when you get the hang of it you can play around with them.
2. Yes
3. The two gray lines are there to replace your front line bridles for 1-1 connection for a more C kite feel you must weigh 150lbs or less
4. The fast, medium, slow settings are on your rear lines. If you feel like the kite is moving across the window to quickly for you, adjust your rear lines accordingly.

Lastly don't go getting stoned on hash before you kite :jump: !!!!

Cheers Murph.

Hey murph, can you explain that? I haven't heard it before. Been on Smoke for 4 years now and prefer direct connection, although i weigh more than 150..

Adding to mc8's question I post a Facebook link with some tuning tips http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=251271542520

If you are a heavy rider or like to kite really over-powered, than the elongation of front lines may go further. In this case, in your repair kit find the set of the extension pig-tail and use it additionally to recover the high depower mode in your Rabbit!

In my repair kit apart from the two pigtails marked as SINGLE there are two other grey pigtails. I suppose they can be used for the elongation of the front lines. Can I use them in lighter winds also in order to make Smoke fly in even lower winds?

no. i believe what was meant is that if you stretch your front lines over time, you can use these pigtails to also increase length of your back lines, effectively returning you to the same relative lengths of both lines as they are now. but merely increasing the length of the front lines now won't give you a 'lighter wind' kite, but rather a likely bad behaving kite (too much tension in back lines will backstall your kite).
