I vote fo a ban on gymnastics then. Far more dangerous than windsurfing.

Pole vault should also be banned as there is no risk assessment in place for working at height

Weight lifting, shot putt etc. should also be banned until they are reviewed under manual handling regs. probably banned afterwards as well.

Javelin anyone? No thanks. A bunch of people throwing spears in a stadium of people. Far too risky.

Shooting!!! :o People with guns! REAL ONES!!! Archery as well of course.

The trip hazards in the hurdles should be removed immediately

Ear plugs should be issued to all competitors with races starting with a gun (Should be banned) due to excessive noise.

And especially for us Brits. Welfare stations should be provided along the marathon route in case someone is caught short.

Silly article.

Holy shit what an article from a kitesurf teacher! he probably thinks its so dangerous because the leading expert cant teach! what a lame article based on absolute bull shit. Statistically it is more dangerous getting out of bed in the morning than kitesurfing! Living is dangerous you eventually die from it! Creatinous if that is a word!

Good riding to all, get training for RIO:::)))

WjM.

I think that expert was the guy who did the article a short time ago, who works for a windsurfing company and has a girl who wanted to go for Olympic windsurf racing?

Wow, sooooo happy to be a kitesurfer!

And they still have biking events like tour de france where everyone knows they are doped...aren't they also Olympic? WHAT A JOKE.

Can stop someone the windsurfers from digging their own grave? I think by now the Olympic committee is surer than ever to have voted for kiteboarding !

Sorry Toby off topic but that's an article I have to disagree with. Sure cycling has been and well known for doping of various sorts due to the extreme nature of the sport. I'd also agree that it still goes on. The temptation to some is too great it seems. BUT I would argue that most cyclists on the Tour are clean and the sport is probably the one sport where those that are caught are completely exposed to face the public and punishment. Whereas in many other sports it is brushed under the carpet very quickly. I would say that cycling is doing more on the anti doping front than most if not all sports.

No he isn't. This guy is an Israeli and the other guy is an American.

The safety aspect isn't going to be the important one. IMO the ISAF didn't make the logical decision, but as long as there is enough wind at Rio, they can stick with their decision and they will get the most entertaining racing in the sailing classes from the kiters.

Nice what people write to get an article on Reuters ;-)

Anyway, cycling clean? They all have astma I heard.
Sorry, that sport is not a sport anymore.
And amazing that companies are putting so much money into it...just bad imagine IMO !

Back to topic: kiteboarding us in, WS out. Our problem? Not really ;-)
