ps here's my bf scale for me its this

bf 2-4 15m landboard
5 13m water action begins
5-6-7 10m big grins
7-8 6m very silly but very big grins
9 6m starting to trim the 6m survival kiting. Ring is very clenched. but i certainly know i'm alive.
10+ wishing i had a smaller kite.

Plummet, you'd really consider going out in 10 Beaufort (48+ knots)? That's where I definitely draw the line myself...

Personally I'm on my 7.5m kite starting around Beaufort 6, will be on my 4.5m in Beaufort 7, and would want to switch to a 3m kite around Beaufort 8. In force 9 (41+ knots) I'd be very hesitant to go out even on a 3m... But I'm a lightweight guy at around 65 kg.

I like the Beaufort scale. It makes more intuitive sense to me than knots or N/m2.

Give this scale a look ...you find 5 wind levels & 5 kite sizes to choose from

Everyone knows the Force (power)of the wind increases as the wind speed goes up :D

.Start with baseline of 8 knots (19M kite) and give it a force of 10F
..................................................16 knots(12M kite)= 40F (4 times more power)
...................................................24 knots(8M kite) = 90F (9 times more power)
...................................................32knots(6M kite)= 160F (16 times more power)
...................................................40knots(5M kite)= 250F (25 times more power)

Very unscientific but somehow works to understand the basic principle

To avoid danger in16 knots and above
Ask yourself when choosing kite size
Will i be able to self land this size kite if no one is around to catch it and/or wind picks up by 8knots

If the answer is "no" rig smaller and if you do not have smaller kite do not take a chance

Self landing is a very important skill just like knowing when to come in to avoid dangerous storm

Not sure if this helps anyone
Just felt like trowing in my 2 cents

in reality the modern beaufort scale is just like what kite size a 175 lb person riding a 130cmx36cm twin tip would be riding.

With the right kite its possible. But completely silly.

I'll i've done between 40 and 50knots on the 6m on the waterand that was insane.

landboarding i've been in 30-50 knots on a little 3 pack of flexi stacker stunt kites and that was strangely controllable. your could easily kite 50-60 on a single stacker!.
