Hi all, Planning on doing a 3-4 week kite trip in July in Europe somewhere with the misses (who is a beginner and likes warm water ), I am currently thinking of Kos as a base, with travel to Rhodes and some other islands. Just wanted to hear from anyone who has been to the Islands recently in terms of whether it's business as usual on the islands, or things are actually getting a bit hectic, what with the elections and possible Euro exit, and it might be worth looking somewhere else?!!? Any thoughts on Kos would also be appreciated - looks like the spot North East of Kefalos is the best - but a bit out of the way. Went to Paros last year and liked it, though want to check out a different island group. All thoughts very much appreciated!! Cheers

I think you will be more than welcome. They need any help they can get, so go and spend your money. I wouldn't worry too much. I am sure you will have a great time. And prices should be also a bit less, so good time to go.
I have other friends who will also go in July and August and they don't worry at all.

I got back in june from the cyclades, had a great time. People were nice, only the wind wasn't that good, but that is something mother nature takes care of I think it's still a great region to spent your vacation.

Greek economy may be in crisis but Greek Sea, Sun, Beauty, Safety and Services are NOT in crisis! Everything runs smoothly in our country, especially in Islands!! I fully understand your concerns as the only thing you hear the last year about Greece is riots, strikes and currency options!!!....DO NOT WORRY, to all of us is business as usual. As regards to wind conditions, Meltemi reached us last week with winds all over Greece blowing from 15 to 40knots!!! In Kos the kite spot is Mastixari(Side on direction) and in Rhodes you have endless alternatives in Prasonisi, Kremasti and Fanes. p.s. for our friends who wish to buy everything for$100, just bring some more money!! Thanks for all the replies guys - you have all dispelled my fears!! Will definitely head to Kos as a starting point! So now on to Kos itself - has anyone been to all of the spots on the island? As far as I can tell there are 4 or 5 centres spread around the north and east coasts of the island - was thinking of booking a place for a couple of nights in Kos town and then renting a car / scooter to check out the spots and near by accommodation for what looks best. Any guidance on the island would be appreciated!! Thanks again guys for flying the Greek flag

Whatever you do, don't mention the word "austerity" you'll never be heard from again

Currently having a FANTASTIC time in Mykonos, in Alex Kuzolitz's Kiteloop Mykonos kiteclub. 30+ knots every day, smiles and friends everywhere, super beach, just completed a session at Little Venice, went there from the club by kite, hundreds of people taking pictures of the sun setting in the sea with us 5 locos kiting until dark, then back to the club to see the GoPro video, laughs and cheers from everyone, just great, really, totally recommend this club...
