Yup, nothing has changed, people in Greece are still working more than people in any other European country (official statistics), service is good enough for tourists to flood the country for endless years now, the sun shines, food is good, wind is almost guaranteed, SBB's comments are inaccurate, nothing has changed.

What all of these about Greece ?? i didnt ecxpect from kiters to be so complex..greeks work more than anyone else in europe.. they live very strongly ,wthey have the best islands and places in europe.. you cant buy no island and no cyclades cause are not for sale.. before you write something for a place.. visit it and you can have your opinion.. Do you think th ey have not opinion about german people or about you? why we have to say that for others ? about italian people? about african? about anyone else..??/ Your women have more fun with greek people.. I KNOW THAT VERY GOOD !! cause they know how to live.. scuba diving, kitesurfing, fishing, nice parks, forests, museums, galleries, tavernas, perfect hotels, perfect weather, perfect wind...many spots and beaches close to eachother to choose where you want to kite.. Everyday before or after work you can choose what you want to do... NEVER BORING...kitesurfing, fishing, horseriding, scubadiving,dancing,cooking..and all of these? close to the beach... EVERYDAY !!!! i dont change it...!!!!!!!!!!!!! greetings to your sister !!

Oh crap - I did not mean for my question to start a flame war about Greece!!! Don't worry, I booked my flights to Kos last night, and I don't actually think I can buy the Cyclades for $100 - although that would be nice However, what with this new information from oceansprince, I will be keeping a closer eye on my girlfriend while I am out there...

Politics aside - I vaguely remember hearing that Kos was more of a windsurf site than kitesurf so maybe check. Rhodes is great so you might just want to be there the entire time. I have been there 3 times and never had a non-windy day and that is one of my favorite places. I'll be in Paros/Naxos in a couple weeks. have fun...

jamiew wrote: So now on to Kos itself - has anyone been to all of the spots on the island?
As far as I can tell there are 4 or 5 centres spread around the north and east coasts of the island - was thinking of booking a place for a couple of nights in Kos town and then renting a car / scooter to check out the spots and near by accommodation for what looks best.
Any guidance on the island would be appreciated!!
I don't recommend staying in Kos town, it's too turisty and crowded. Well.. except if you like that . Mastichari has great, calm atmosphere, great apartements and excellent food. Recommend to rent a car as wind can be crappy and it's prudent to check different spots. Last year we did have some problems getting to the airport as TAXI and BUS drivers were on strike and idle taxi drivers were molesting people giving others a lift. Locations: http://locations.splocs.com/kitesurf/region/Area_Kos.htmlThe Southern Mastichari kite center/spot is missing from Splocs. They have a good kite center with friendly people you can also ask for spot recommendations for different winds. On strictly nothern wind go for salt lake spot (Tingaki on splocs) as it gets more wind. The best spot for beginners is probably Kohilari, not sure as I was on Kos for only 14 days.
