I do not know the name of the leash but it is so short that board came back and hit me in the face. Guess what..........now i will need a root canal since one of my teeth is severly damaged.

sorry to hear that.
just forget about the leash, if you can.
Practice to go upwind without board, you may need 20 min to learn it, it is very easy.
Unless there is no wind at all, you will always get it back, and if there is now wind, you have to swim in anyway, then you can swim to the board as well.

Good luck next timeand be lucky that it didn't hit you eye or whatever!
