Wow, it definitely goes to show u that u can't please everyone. The Cab Ids bar is very streamlined and clutterfree. It is anything but a mess. Some people just want to complain for complains sake. Ok now where do I start?.......dyyylan wrote:if they did away with the spring, chicken loop, and quick release(s) it wouldn't be too bad of a setup. It's a very safe and functional system it's just all kind of a mess
Lets start with the spring was very much welcomed when introduced in 2011. Going back to the 2010 bar which did not have it, made one instantly realize how ingenious this new feature was. A rider could now always have the bar within reach when letting go the bar, spin the bar quickly to unspin lines and always able to instantly sheet out for safety reasons. There also was no risk of having a fixed stopper, which can be very dangerous, just let go the bar and the kite would depower to the needed safe level.
The 2012 chicken loop was again very much welcomed over prior years. The new loop is much more of rigid structure, so doesn't stretch much when under load. Unhooking and hooking back in is now effortless. The donkey stick is central and flops down when unhooking, which means the chickenloop can be hooked back in without the donkey stick getting in the way. An awesome subtle feature for riders which want to do hooked and unhooked riding, but dont want to permanenty remove the donkey stick. Saying that, Cab thinks of everyone, and the donkey stick, can be easily removed.
There is now no more velcro quick release like the old QR2 seen on the 2009 -2011 chicken loops. The new QR2 release was exactly what was needed, ie a streamlined QR, directly infront of the rider, which would instantly release the kite from the rider, effortlessly, and instantly.
The below the bar leash, which now swivels is there for those who unhook or for those who unintentional unhooked. The swivel part is for those that unhook and don't want the chicken loop to spin when they may for one reason unwrap their leash.
The 2012 QR1 was a change made for the better, despite the added 5 to 10 seconds it now takes to reattach. I have to admit, that if u were not shown how to reattach the 2012 QR1, then u might be there for a little while getting frustrated. However once shown and learnt, reattaching is easy enough, but for sure not as easy as prior years. My guess is that Cabrinha will have this reattaching process, designed so easy in the upcoming years that even a cave man could do it. .
Another awesome feature with the 2012 bar/chicken loop is that the rider can now untwist their center lines instantly on demand while riding by manually turning the QR1. Prior years 2009 to 2011 Ids bars did not have this cool feature, which meant riders had to untwist the center lines when riding by rotating in the air in the opposite direction to the twist or looping the kite. Persons who could only front roll or back roll in one direction were stuck with twisted center lines.
Hopefully this helps clarify why Cabrinha bars just get better and better not only for safety reasons but for simplicity and performance. A more thorough explanation I felt was needed from someone who actually uses the cabrinha gear.
