Hi guys,

I can do the back roll with kite loop in the same style as the slow mo:

wiki/index.php?title=Hooked_Kite_Loop_Backroll

Perhaps even gentler than the slow mo to be honest. If I want control and not crash I have to go in really slow, make a small half jump and as I face backwards pull the back hand in really hard then land and ride away. I can transition or keep going. The kite is usually set up in order to keep going after the loop but since I have speed and pull it is easy to make a transition out of it.

The Sebastian Baumann version is cooler than I can do it.

If I power the jump more and jump higher, most of the time I get the timing wrong and crash really hard. I get yanked and fly backwards horizontally and crash hard. I guess it has to do with the kite looping while I am still on the way up.

I want to do it like this: :cooltext:

Any advice on how to think and time the loop, hold the bar in order to crash all the time most welcome. I know I could practice, practice, practice but the crashes are really hard. Looks like he loops the kite after already completing the backroll on the peak of the jump.

you already answered your own question in your last comment. the key is to loop the kite after you've made your body/head turn...or at least after a good part of the rotation. if you initiate the kiteloop while beginning your rotation, you will fly hard backwards and likely crash with your back/neck hitting first. not fun...i know.

Haha, yes I had a few of those crashes. I guess the higher and harder you jump the back roll the later you have to do the kite loop. Have had my hands as far out on the bar as possible then pulled hard with my back hand after doing half a rotation. If you jump high ít is easy to accidentally start looping too early. Think one probably has to hold near centre then fish pole the bar by moving front hand behind back hand when it is time to pull in for the loop after reaching zenith of the jump.

Hi, from what are you telling the biggest mistake is to be too close to the wind. The real smooth ones are when you slightly bear away, the moment of pressure in the kite disappears, you fish pole and commit yourself to the rotation. the more edge and the more speed will catapult you up. And the more the kite is lower, the more pull, but after the initial slow pull which you use for the beginning of the rotation. So, nothing to do with the hands swapping. Landing perfectly loaded and with a small kite may be even having a second kite rotation. :)
Cu on da h2o.
