I worked teaching kitesurfing for 3 months (I think it was summer 2008) at Nyali beach. The wind in September is not good, and mostly very light. You may be lucky and get 2-3 days on the water in 1 week but probably on a bigger kite.
The best months for wind in Kenya are June, July, (August getting lighter but still ok) - these months the wind comes cross shore from the right, and December, January, February when the wind comes cross-shore from the left.
Dave.
