Travel bag to fit the north nugget

Dear fellow kiters,

Does anyone happen to know a good travel bag for air trips, that could just fit the North Nugget perfectly? I am reluctant to take a huge long bag for surfboard that would then be very cumbersome to put in small cars and for storage.

The travel bag shall fit 1 Nugget + 1 TT + a couple of kites and kite gear.
Ideally a deceiver golf bag.

The problem I have is that all the brands seem to be lying about the actual size of their bag, and you cannot trust the official dimensions, and it is actually quite hard to know what the actual size is except if you get to try to see by yourself if it fits or not.

Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated as I do not have a kiteshop with huge selection of kite travel bag nearby, and I do not want to play trials and errors

Thank you very much in advance,
y.

One of the candidate is the HOUSSE NORTH COMBIBAG 2012 148cm
The outside size is actually 160 cm and the width is supposed to be 55cm
The actual size of the NUGGET is 152CM x 53,33 cm, would it fit???

Other candidates are:
ION DOUBLE WAKEBOARDBAG WHEELIE
Golf Bag with Wheels by Crazyfly 2012 - 150

Maybe Dakine SX Kitesurf Travel Board Bag 150cm, but it has no wheels.

Impossible to know the width of the prolimit ones...

Any other candidates?

Thanks,
y.

I am in the same situation - looking for a bag for a new Nugget... I prefer the North or Ion products. Did you find one that fits well? Did you try the North Combibag 150 or the Quiverbag 160?

Thanks! You decided on the Quiverbag instead of the Combibag? Is it much larger?

Can you give more information on the travel bag you got for the nuggget. Its the Soul? not he Combi? more exspenseve but looks nice. The Nugget is wide.
My questions are can you get it buy as a noraml checked bag? the dimensions would kick it out as far the rules read fro most carrier (they sum L+W+H = 158cm) . some airlines only really weigh and charge after 50lbs.
Does it look big? I have a Dakine Coffin 160cm, it looks big. Sometimes if it looks big then thye will oversize it. Can't tell from the image of the Soul, but it does not look big.

It is the north quiverbag, it does not fit in the combi to provide enough protection.

I think the size is 165cm, model 2012.

I use the 6'3" Retro Fish Double from Creatures of Leasure.
For everyday use I put the Nugget and a Twin Tip and don't need to remove the fins. :thumb:

For travelling I prefer to remove the fins of both boards (don't need to remove the pads or straps) and use air conditioning lines insulation tubes (cut in half) around the rails and the bag close without problem. There still place to put your harness, bar and kite . When I travelled with Jet Blue they charge me the same rate they charge for Kite Equipment or for a surfboard, is the same, $50 each way. (needs to be below 50 lbs)

This is from their web page.

Features:
•10mm closed cell padding
•600 denier and heat reflective silver poly fabric
•interior fin pocket
•5mm tongue to separate boards

It also came with a shoulder strap.

The most I like from this bag is that have and internal "tongue" to separate the boards
this eliminate the possibility that one board scrach or damage the other.

This bag fit even a TT and a Sector 54 that I had.

The attach picture is of the newest bag, I think I have the 2011 bag but the size is the same.

Regarding north quiverbag vs combi, this is what I found on the web regarding the 2013 models:

North Combi Bag 160cm - 160cm x 65cm x 35cm
North Quiver Bag 160cm - 160cm x 50cm x 35cm

So, at least for 2013, it should fit in the Combi but not in the Quiver?
Anyone with a nugget and a 2013 Combi can confirm it fits?

It will fit, will just limit the other stuff you can fit with the board, but a tight fit means padding and packing stay put. It is 35 cm deep so will take up that extra width with a slight bulge.

If they actually measure your board bag- something that has happened to me once in 100+ flights, it will add up to less, I love rounded as they can never measure them well if at all.

If your luggage is overweight by more than 1/2kg they will most probably measure so pack to limit or just under and all will be fine and they may even not charge for your equipment.

With Airlines I find that the further away from their hub the less they care about baggage fees- better if you are checking thru to destination from a partner airline too.

I had one incident were all checked thru and stopped at Hong kong with 8 hr delay and my luggage weight was written on my ticket. Recheck guy says luggage too heavy, you must pay. I look at him innocently and say there must be some mistake the luggage is not that heavy ( there is no way he is going to go and try and find my bag and reweigh it ) he looks at me for 10 seconds, blinks and waves me thru, have many stories like this, may have to start a thread :)
