Being realistic, the racing may take part with the rest of the sailing in Guanabara bay which has averaged 8 knots of wind in August over the last 10 years.

So with flat water and light winds, its not going to be difficult for these guys to switch over. They are already the ideal size for those conditions - tall light and extremely fit with years of experience racing. With the box rule, its also wide open for money and technology to make the difference unless the rules are modified to prevent that.

It should help the current racers if they can get the racing moved to the open sea.
