Lee Harvey cheated and ended up 3rd.... Using un-registered kites for the event.

Tom seems to be exceptionally talented!

What sort of kites was he on that aren't registered ?
Or was it just that he used a kite that he didn't register for the event?
unregistered for the event.

Newbie jumping stance, newbie board, and apparently a school helmet, June of this year.

Kiteracers, get ready for the real competition!

So is that suppposed to give him some kind of advantage? What is the registration process? I don't get it.

If all he did was not fill out some paperwork, saying that he cheated seems like a stretch.

If freestyle makes it to the Olympics at some point, expect to see the Chinese selecting a few of their gymnasts for intensive kite training. In a few years they would dominate. :-?

The top three US riders all have a sailing background, and it shows on the international level.

I am excited to see more people interested in kite racing requardless of the motivation, Racing kites is also fun..For the cost of a used motorcycle you can go out and sail as fast as any thing all with what you can carry on your back. that is the true draw, for any sailor.

You should be registering the kites you will be using.

If the wind doesn't turn up and you need a 17 but don't have one registered it is unfair of you to use one whilst others who didn't register their biggest kites make do with their smaller (registered) kites and are then at a disadvantage.

How else do you class that?

LOL - great timing. The season is just about history in California. Good luck chasing the clearing winds after the winter storms. Might want to head south to Mexico, Amigo!

I would agree with you but last year at Crissy if you had a race board and a big kite you could ride every day well in to Late November.
