I have self launched but only on low winds. I usDe airush 2011 10 m kite. So I don't have experience in high wind launching or landing.
How do you choose a fixed point or rather could you use a stake as a fixed point?

I'm not a fan of stakes, as a lot of them can pull out easily and if you buy a really good one, like the Wombat (made in Australia) it might get stolen.

I use this really cheap garden refuse bag because the handles go right round the bag and its so cheap. I use a cheap small shovel to fill it until I cant lift the bag and push the shovel into the sand in the bag.

I dont use a carabiner, just use a bit of rope with a loop on the end - like this. You should clip onto your kiteleash before transferring the chickenloop.

I was shown how to land Naish kites by:

Bringing kite slowly to edge of window a few metres above beach
Quite sharply steer the kite down towards the beach
Just before the kite hits the beach, deploy the safety and the kite should land quite nicely with LE into the wind
Pull in some of the yellow safety line before following the same line up to the kite to secure.

Tried it twice. Once it worked perfectly, and once it worked but not quite as perfect.

I linked to this video on page 3.

When I flew front line flagging Cabrinhas, I would fly them at what I would call medium speed toward the beach and when it was a kites width off the beach, let go the bar and pop the Q/R at the same time. The flagging line has to be the upper line on the side you are landing to.
It basically the same method as in the video except you are already leashed to the top front line, so you just have to release at the same time as he let go of the bar.
