I mainly use the 6 and 8 meter 2012,
I saw in the  range table that the 2013  6 metres has low end 24/25 knots until  35.
The 6 of 2012 ( in his table range ) was  20 knots till 33.

So the Rally 2013 size 6 is less powerful  in low end ( compared to the 2012) and more suited to high winds ???
Thanks to everyones

Well, I haven't flown the 2013, but I'd say those numbers are kind of arbitrary. I flew the 2012 6M a good bit and found it to fly significantly smaller than a typical SLE 7M which I was coming off of. So, it makes sense to me that they'd raise the windspeeds on the 6M all around. It seemed to have a limitless top end, though. Or, it could also be that now that they have squeezed a 7M (yeah!) and 9M (yeah, last year!) in the line-up, they wanted to spread those wind bars out a tad. ;)

I have a 2012 6m (would love to get the 2013 but cant swing it) and feel like it had the grunt of my 7m that it replaced (flexifoil ion 5). The 2012 6m in my opinion was a really grunty 6m with an unreal topend. I suppose with the addition of the 7m in 2013 it would make sense for SS to change those numbers (which I agree are quite arbitrary). I hope that the new 6 is as grunty as the 2012 because I would like to get one when I can. Hopefully someone will do a review.

I also agree, the 2012 6m pulls as hard as most 7m kites and has great top end. I can go from powered on my 9 to my 6 no problem. That 2012 6m kite is as close to a perfect wave kite that I have found in 10 years.

For me to, I use the 6 from 18 up to 35 knots and then I ABSOLUTELY need to know if for 2013 is less powerful.
I have also written to SS international and expect an answer to choose 2 kite of 2013

Finally got a chance to fly the 2013 12m. I really liked the 2012 12m a lot. I thought it was the best 12 for waves I have owned. On to the 2013 12...

First off I will say again that the 2013 rallys are the most rigid kites I have flown. They are rock solid in the air. The 12 is no different. The extra struts and increased LE really make a HUGE difference to the previous models. The depower is unbelievable (it has amazing range) as well as the way it absorbs the gusts. A friend tried it today who flies another brand and was amazed a how solid the kite was compared to what he was flying. The 12 is a super grunty kite. Like the 9 it does not pivot on the wingtip like last years rally but rather flies more off of the front lines. The kiteloops have super even pull all the way through the loop. The kite is slower turning than last years kite and I would say that the bar pressure is med/light. I think the bar pressure is perfect. I am really happy with the 12 also and hope to get a chance to ride and review the 6m soon. Without a doubt I would say that this year the Rallys are a much better all around kite (which will suit the majority of kiters)

Mark -

Thank you for posting on the 12m. What was the wind conditions? How much do you weigh? I am 195lbs and looking for a new 12m. Wondering what the low end is. Also wondering how it is in the surf and jumping. Looking for a kite that boosts big but also drifts well. Hard to find both as most kite companies market a seperate "surf" kite, "freestyle" kite, etc. I ride Cabrinha switchblades currently. I don't unhook - just like to boost and play in the waves.

Thanks -

Tony

Hey tony, I weigh about 185. Rode today starting around 12 knots and by the end of the day the wind was averaging around 18ish. Riding the ss tyrant 6'1. Straight sideshore and small surf today. Kite boosts unreal and awesome hang time. I found last years 12 to be a little faster which was obviously great in the surf. This years kite definitely drifts better than last years which is great. Definitely a really grunty 12 with an awesome top end. Speaking strictly for the surf it would be great if it turned like last years but it is better in so many other ways. Just need a few more days to dial it in as far as the timing goes in the surf. The more time I spend on the 9 the more I like it. The kites fly so different to 2012 that they will take a little getting used to. They are insane though! Definitely happy with them.
Hope this helps.
