Less expensive products probably have a combination of the following: less expensive materials, less R&D which means they are copying others products and are behind the technology curve, or limited support in the form of no shops or reps to talk to.
Kiting is my #1 hobby, I am willing to pay whatever it takes to get the gear that I really want. Life is too short to ride gear you don't like.

You can buy the ingredients:
Aluminum stock tubing for bar
End peaces (certain brands carry)
Windsurfing boom grip
All this is about $100 (if you make your own end peaces & CL it's less than $50)
If you add a KITEBOARDING 22 METER LINE SET OF 4, it's less than $100.00
So you could have a nice professional looking bar for less than $200.00

I do think that it is an item that is overpriced by the kite companies.
It is time for an independent bar system company to come out with something and be willing to be a little less greedy for lack of a better word.
But we have to be willing for bars to NOT change every year, with the latest bell and whistle.
The simple folded over (cloth sewn over a couple hard pieces) release system that Ocean Rodeo has used for years, is cheap, very strong and dead on reliable in sand or snow or ice or mud.
The only problem is, it is not fancy and they need to add a simple swivel below the bar like Slingshot did in 2005?
I don't see a below the bar swivel added to the OR chicken loop.
Is the picture not updated?
The Chicken loop looks the same as it has been for several years now, like the ones I've been using.
