I think you will find that storing your kites and stuff in that little cave will be awkward.
Here's some other concepts that I've used in building six or seven racks for my different vehicles.
1.
Put your boards on edge
This is like a plate rack, where you slide them into a slot.
3/4" PVC pipe works great for upright dividers.
You only have to build a back end, as the front can float free.
Remember how to deal with the long Sector fins, if you do not remove them every time.

2.
Put your boards flat on the floor.
Now just build a shelf above that holds everything else.
Boards + Fins + straps + 1" = under shelf height.
This is what I'm using now in the picture.
That's a Sector 60 with surfboard fins, that I've been riding strapless.
Riding it with the race fins and straps is a completely different experience.

3.
Stack in a Rack. Each level holds one board.
For board supports I like to use 1" PVC pipe, just screwed on to the 2x2 frame.

Some Construction Tips
My current rack is light and removable. That is very useful when I need to haul something else.
Don't overbuild it or it will get heavy, expensive and hard to modify.
For example, all PVC construction is slick, but also costly and hard to adjust.
All it takes is lightweight 2x2 lumber for the frame and some 2-3/4" deck screws.
Shelf is 1/2 plywood. You may want to waterproof it with Thompsons or polyurethane.
My shelf top is white coroplast, a corrogated plastic used for cheap signs. A 4x8 sheet @ $10.
Be sure to always secure your rack.
