cabrinha cutsom 2015

Postby philmb » Sat Feb 21, 2015 10:40 am

Anybody ridden it?

Thinking of getting a new board and i have a 2012 custom and a nobile nhp (not sure of the year) a few years old though.

I love the custom when the wind is cranking but takes a bit to get going so i usually end up taking out the nhp.

The new Custom looks like it would be a bit better in slightly less wind than the old one.
But then maybe its the thick and heaviness that i like about the 2012. I seem to be able to be really aggressive with it. Evan on the beach i have no problems just throwing the thing down. It seems indestructible! I would never treat me nhp the same way =)

Anyway to the point:
Whats the rocker like on the new one? (i like big rocker)
Is it as stiff?
Does it seem as tough n strong?

There is a shop i can go look at them but its pretty damn far from where i am and i cant be assed to be honest.

So any info would be great.

I tried, it was the first time on a custom for me so I cannot compare with the past customs.

In summary is now on my wish list. Best board that I tried that test day by far.... super smooth in the chop and very good upwind. However they told me that the old custom is more similar to the custom cbl.

It was easy to edge hard and jump, soft landings although the board is stiff.

give it a try, I think for strong wind a choppy sea is the perfect choice.

I've only seen it in a shop and the board has no bottom features at all, the previous years all had nice channeling but the new one is pretty much flat. Would look elsewhere tbh...

Strong wind n chop are the conditions i kite which is partly the reason i like decent amount of rocker. I like stiff boards to.

I am used to having channels in my board though.

That day I tried in same conditions all north and all naish boards.

I tried the custom only because all other boards were already taken.... I am not a fan on cabrinha... surely not for the kites.

The custom was by far the best performer!!!

And if am not wrong there are channels on the tips... but I do not care since the performance were there.

give it a try

Yeh i don't own anything else Cabrinha, nothing else really interests me but i like the custom.

There is little channels running under where the fins are.

I'm sure it doesn't matter. All my other boards have had decent channels and you just get used to what you have if you know what i mean.

I will probably end up getting one as i like the old one a lot.

What North board did you try btw?

Oh and thanks for the input =)

2015 is the best one yet :=)
basically kept all the old characteristics but easier to go upwind without being fully powered
still strong...there is a guy here that is 250lbs+, rides the 144 with boots since it first came out...
loves it !

2015 Cabrinha came out with two versions...the Custom and the Cable...unless you do cable parks and exclusively kicker/slides, go for the Custom

I tried all north and all naish boards (not the light wind ones). It was a test day on the north sea in Holland. From cabrinha I tested only the custom and not the others since it was late in the day, but I kept it for a good 30 min with 3 different kites (draft, dice, switchblade) all 2015
