2005 Vegas question

Postby dyyylan » Mon Oct 01, 2012 10:33 pm

I wanted to pick up an oldschool c kite to play with and I found a 14m vegas in good condition for almost nothing.

it does not come with a bar, however and my current 5 line bar (mutiny) has all equal line lengths. is this going to work out of the box with this kite or will I need to make any adjustments?

obviously I'm going to fly it in light wind (it's a 14 anyway) and tune the bar, just looking for an idea of what to expect

North kites work well with equeal line lengths. In 2005 the 5th line wa still without the Y up in the middle lines so if your curent bar has the Y it may change a bit how the kite flys depending how up the Y is.

I recall that in 2005 and 2006 Rhino was much better C-kite than Vegas for freestyle. After 2007 Vegas started to change to better to freestyle.

You could fly the 2005 Vegas on 4 lines but worked better on the loaded 5th line. Should work fine on the munity bar but bear in mind the rear lines will go slack after about 30cm of depower throw.

And just to be anal, thats a 2004 Vegas! But it's pretty much the same as the 05...

Thanks I just googled around and thought that was the closest picture I could find. And mutiny bar is 5 lines (I have a quiver of p series) so no worries there :)

The Vegas 05 was not designed for a 5th line with tension. Just leave it slack.

@ paulie: more like 20cm. 15 cm for the smaller versions.

I used to fly the 8 meter and loved it for its boost, whip in kiteloops and direct steering. However no depower.

I guess you will find that the 14 meter is very slow and grunty compared to modern Cs. 14s back then were not designed to move in the sky, but to pull early.
