Luderitz Namibia, the man made speed canal at the second lagoon has been further improved by sebastien over the last couple of weeks. Latest news from the deserts is that the channel is smoother then last year and both the kiters as well as the windsurfers will benefit from this.

Sebastien being the first to break the 50 knots barrier and the 55 knots barrier over has one personal goal being setting a new World Record and being the first again to break the 60 knots barrier.

Watch this space!!!

Feel the need for Speed!! A trip deep into the Namibian Desert!!

Is it true that for the second year running the current world record holder was not invited

Will Rob Douglas be there to defend his world record?

If he is not 'invited" then this event will be very lacking in the credibility department.

It would be sort of like having a surf contest and not inviting Kelly Slater, just so you make sure he doesn't win.

Why no Rob Douglas?

Let us know please...

Otherwise you run the risk of looking like a bunch of self-indulgent children in your own corner of the playground.

errm, Rob is running his own event in the USA anyway which is also invitational with a shit load of money up for grabs in his home town, so tell me why he would be bummed about not flying half way round the world to sit in the desert for 4 weeks with little/no prize money….so probably best to calm down a bit with the "poor Rob" bit.

ah, maybe that's another question. Why was it necessary for RD to create another event in the first place?...think the first was last year.

Les frenchies did not like not winning,
too bad the result is degeneration into dog and pony shows on opposite sides of the world, no real champion!

The event has started and Antoine Albeau set a new windsurf world record of 49.41 knots on 7th Nov. in 38 knots of wind.

Zara Davies set a new womens windsurf world record of 44.19 knots.

There is no news of how the kiters are doing.
