Ozone Kites how do they fly on the north 4 line bar ?

Postby ikite2 » Mon Jan 14, 2013 2:50 pm

Looking at getting a 2013 catalyst. But really don't like the look of the bar or the pull safety eject. Has anyone flown them with the North bar ?

The issues I can see are the flag out system as it looks like the North flags out onto the front 2 line and the Ozone flags onto 1. Also have no idea about the line lengths and if they will affect the flight either.

Any help or advice would be great.

Cheers.

Ozone bar is actually a lot better and more solid, though it lacks the the width adjustment. That said, the real issue with the North bar is that the front lines split a lot closer to the kite than with the original Ozone bar. I've ditched the same idea a while back for that same reason.

a north bar will pinch inwards about 4-5 pounds while a bar without the high Y pinches in about 2-3 pounds, this will cause the kite to lack power if it's not designed for it. It's worse on the bigger kites. Line lengths are no problem, they are all equal though north uses a different knot/lark's head foolproof system, so you need pigtails. The ozone kite is designed to flag out instead of go to a mini-5th line so yeah it's possible there can be safety issues. Try these other bars, which are also V (not Y) center lines, with a single center line flag out: slingshot, liquid force, wainman, blade, naish.

when i first started posting in kiteforum I got everything you could possibly get wrong.

But you know how it is when you are wrong on the internet?

Only way I ever figure stuff out is by being wrong first.

Weird? The ozone bar is my favorite one on the market. North being my least favorite. But thats jmo. I have flagged my ozone 13 meter in a 55mph gust and it worked perfectly. That time.

Nope......Although I like both Bars I would not fly Ozone kites on the North Bar, Not only will you change how the Ozone kite flys becuase of the location of the line split, But your ozone kite will not work on the North bar if you need to use the saftey...Ozone kites do not have pulleys and the only reason North kites do is so the front lines can be used as the saftey system..No pulleys means no twin front line saftey..... only a kite that will try and fly on the front lines when you go to the flag line (Red saftey to front line Y) on the north bar... If you wanna fly a north kite on a ozone bar then that will work.

North Bar... North Kite cool!

Ozone Bar.... North/Ozone Kite cool!

North Bar......Ozone kite, no saftey uncool...

Looks like ill scratch that idea then. Still got a lot to learn I guess had not even though of added bar pressure from lines.

With North Bar, I like the feature that you can adjust the bar length for bigger or smaller kites. In that case you dont have to set up another set of lines once the wind changes. Also no need to carry another bar. I consider buying Ozone Catalyst 10m and 14m however North EVO is very good choice for only one bar need with two kites.
