Enter Sail Melbourne for the highest racing ranking points of the year

After the 2012 course racing worlds have come to an end yesterday, the focus shifts towards the first ever ISAF Sailing World Cup including kiteboarding. With the new ISAF world ranking system, Sail Melbourne will be the highest scoring event of the 2012 season.

The new world rankings combine every riders best six events, including sailing world cups, continental and world championships. While the recent European and World Championships have been scored 100 points each, Sail Melbourne will award 200 points for the winner, surely putting him in the lead of the new world rankings.

As upcoming world and continental championships will apply entry quotas, collecting points at the sailing world cups will be crucial to be able the top level class events, as entry is selected by the standing in the world rankings. The ISAF world ranking will also be the qualifying basis to take part in the 2014 Sailing World Championships in Santander, where 50% of the qualification places for the Olympic Games 2016 are decided.
