Ask the beer guys in Ireland, they make the rules.

Great job Rimas, anyone up for kiting without sleep or a substantial break for almost 35 hours using the same muscles on one tack in often strong winds and rough open sea conditions?!

I used to routinely go 8 hours on multiple tacks with no extended break but that doesn't come remotely close to fraction of his run.

I wonder what you would call the record if it was really non-stop!

I guess they realise that actual non stop is not practical.

However anyone who bags an attempt of 30+ hours of kiting has absolutely no comprehension of how difficult a task it is to kite for that long.

I think its practical,it would just be a shorter distance and time.Doesn't diminish what he accomplished,I know i would last about 8 hrs tops.Has to be tough mentally as well. Reminds me of the skiing vertical challenges.

Kinda suprised that no one posted about his new feat.

"NEW NON OFFICIAL WORLD RECORD

Finally, Rimas Kinka, the best world long distance kiteboarder, hit his own record. 3 days, 72 hours - 500 miles..

Yesterday, after we got Rimas ready for night ride, he left Islamorada. Shortly after he left Islamorada, ( Whale harbor) after 10 miles, he had an accident. Kinka got hit the rocks, which cost him, broken fin and huge pain to his body. Kinka had to stop for a brake and change his board.

Rimas start again late night, but after 33 miles, he must stopped again. The pain were terrible. Early morning Kinka left the shore. Just 20 miles to te Key West, we received call from Rimas: guys, pick me up, there is no wind.

Rimas Kinka finished, 20 miles from Key West, at the Sugarloaf Key, where hi got finished."

What's really amazing is this update a couple days ago:

"During the night the wind shifted from NE to NNW and dropped from 18kts to 5kts. The kite fell into the water and started pulling him to deep waters so he had to self rescue. Rimas lost a lot of energy trying to get to shore, he spent a couple hours sitting on the kite watching the sharks make circles around him. Finally the wind shifted NE and he was blown on shore around Cocoa Beach"

Way to go Rimas! I saw him by the merest chance as I was walking fast back to the car after a rushed kite session in Ft. Lauderdale on Saturday. I was about 400 ft. from the ocean and saw through the trees, a kite heading south below the other kiters just outside the buoy line. It looked like a Velocity and a kiter in a green jersey. Could be Rimas booking south, turned out it was. This is a fuzzy enlarged shot of a distant target from a GoPro image. Wish I caught him on the water, could have shot him closeup with three cameras.

Tremendous effort and well done!

Great job Rimas. This picture was taken on Saturday in Crandon Park on his way to the Keys.
Wait until he tells you some of the shark stories he had.

Rimas probably passed Katherine headed North back to South Goergia. She surfaced Saturday up there and previously hadn't surfaced since Jan 30 between New Smyrna and Cocoa Beqch.

What kind of gear was he using? Is there a list of items he considered essential?
