Hi,

I want to extend my range for more lowend. At the moment I have a 7 and a 9m Rebel from 2014. So im looking for a 12m.
Im just wondering what year would be the best? From what I can find on the net the 2013 has less lowend (not what I want) but turns faster (thats what I want!).
How big are the differences, who knows both kites and what would you recommend?
Me: 70kg, TT

Thanks,
K.

2014 is you can afford it, it's like a refined 2012. If not then 2012. I have ridden the 2015 3 times now and I have to say it has all the low end of these years but more agile. Beautiful wing this year for hooked in freeride.

Hey Westozzy,

Have you tried the 2015 rebel in the waves ? Does it has more drift? I know that you prefer the dice for that but I'm looking for the rebel.
Thanks!
Bruno

If low end is what you want, stay away from the 2013. All reports say that the 2013 had less low end and turns slower per size. Supposed to be better jumping, but I didn't think it was that great.

I've loved my 2011 and 2012 Rebels in 7-11m sizes. Picked up a 2013 14m though and it was a disapointment, especially the low end. Some people liked them though.

2014 has the large inflate valve. Makes pumping much easier. I didn't think I would care that much, but now that I've had that valve on one of my kites, it is horrible to go back to the old valves. I'm spoiled now. Only large inflate valves for me from now on :thumb:

I had my 2012 rebel out in about 11mph a few days ago. I had to use my litewave wing. I'm 153lbs. wasn't much fun but i could stay upwind.

I have/had 2012 sizes 8,10,12 and 2013 13 and 14. IMO 2012 has great low end in size 8 and 10, size 12 not that much. Against many opinions I liked a lot 2013 specially for jumping and the hight end is fantastic.
It's time to replace my 13 2013 and I want a kite with better looping ability.
Right now I ride 8 rebel 2012, dice 10 and 12, and I want a new kite for 10/12 knots , that performs well in waves and good for kite loop jumps. Westossy do you think rebel 2015 suits me? or I should try something different, like EVO 13m, or the new Vegas 14,5m. It's side shore wind and 6 ft waves max.

Well I rode the the 2011 (only in the 8m though) and eventually had 2012 11/8 rebels, missed the 2013 and rode the 2014 for a week or so as a demo. 2011 definetly had some more raw grunt and was prone to greater power spikes...good for TT jumping. The 2012 was a more refined wing, but some say it was 'softened' somewhat. 2014 felt more like the 2012, although more refined...and some might say 'softened', but I'd say refined. Early days but I'd say the 2015 has a bit of 2012 and 2011 in it..but I'm yet to have it in its upper third wind range where I prefer to ride all my kites. It definetly is the quickest turner of the years, and so damn rock solid it's ridiculous. Again let's see it in its upper third, even slightly beyond it's stated maximum range first.
Someone said they want to loop in 10/12 knots....what kind of loops...rebel is not a serious looping kite. Dice would be a better option and of course the Vegas supercedes them all..it's a function of c.

Drift....yeh some, it's a meduim aspect kite, but nothing like the dice...gotta keep it moving. Definetly doesn't stall as much as the 2012, you know that pivot turn, stall then that mad acceleration normally taking you off the wave...it give surprinsingly good consistent forward turning speed, that pivot stall is markedly reduced. But it's ultimately a freeride all rounder, not a wave kite and not for unhooking and not for looping....but you can do these things, albeit in a reduced controlled fashion. Those that like to move a kite in the waves, it's better than average.

You can't have it all.
