After a few sessions on my new 8 and 10 meter Razors. Definite improvements on the backstall while unhooked. I had the 8m out in a 20-48 (yes 48) gusty session the other day and it was fine, the range is impressive. Overall it's pretty much the same kite as last year. I need a few more sessions but my only question would be if it has perhaps a bit more bar pressure this year. I took some time off so I can't directly compare, but it seems to me a bit more bar pressure and perhaps a slightly wider turning radius. But really, it's a minor difference if at all, it's more or less the same great kite that it was last year, my favorite kite of any and I have been riding since 99. It's really a great all around kite for anyone that is not an old c-style freestyle only competition rider. I would recommend it to anyone from beginner to very advanced, although I would caution a beginner that the kite is powerful, especially looping, it pulls you horizontally on a loop more than any kite that is not a pure c-kite.

Just back from my first session on the 10m 2013 RAZOR ... With the front lines on the fwd. setting & fast turning It was a nice smooth session. I had 59 sessions on the 2011 & I'm glad it still is a little rocket 8)

Amazing range. Solid build. My best kite ever.

demoed the ocean rodeo razor 12m and ocean rodeo flite 15m. much to my surprise, any time i jibed/transitioned and sheeted in to power up, as i normally do, both kites would backstall.
spoke with OR, they gave me settings of which i had already figured out. the next time i demoed the razor, the kite was a little better, but in the low range of the kite, the backstalling continued.
i've been riding SS gear since 02 and have tried a lot of my customers kites ... many different brands (2010 and later), the razor and flite were the most backstall prone i've flown. i must say, when you find the kites sweet spot it feels very solid, but the backstalling was a bit much.
also, had a customer who flys RRDs demo the flite 15m - he had the same backstalling issues. i switched him to a 14m rally and no problems - and i quote 'this is much better, for a moment i thought i'd forgotten how to kite'.

Interesting. I'd have to say you had it rigged wrong somehow. I have the 2013 Razor 12m and do not have any problems with backstalling. I ride in the waves as well as on the flatter ocean spots using both directionals and TTs. Do you have anyone else at your normal ride zones that use the OR kites? Perhaps you could seek assitance/advice from them? Different kites certainly do fly differently and require adjustment to your flying technique, but what you are describing sounds abnormal. I can intentionally cause the kite to stall and do it on purpose at times, but, it certainly doesn't happen by accident that I've noticed.

with all your experience... Why didnt you just advise to adjust the front or rear lines - its pretty basic 1 minute tuning even for a noob...
Then get up Ocean rodeo ? Or do you personally like slingshots..
