The awesome thing about this sport is that it is so versatile and it appeals to so many types of people. You can ride all these different boards and do all these different styles of riding. it also brings a lot of random people together. It's cool that each style is progressing in it's own direction.
It would definitely cool to one day have an airstyle tour (a lot of people have heaps of fun riding that way and lots like to watch too) I'm guessing it would eventually progress to no handles like how the surf side of things progressed to strapless.
Anyways, back to Youri. I haven't been following the PKRA but I just read he's in the #1 seed... did he already lock in the Title??

Just for the record, I didn't mean you Dre!
For sure airstyle will not be limited to not use handles, but using the rail will score more for the same trick. But handles are good for progressions, then rail can follow if possible.
But there are "t-handle" tricks which need a handle!!!
Youri? Why change the topic now?
Hahaha just kidding!
No, Alex and Youri have th same amount in points from what Alex told me.
2 more events to go. New Caledonia will have wind, Alex won it last year...and maybe China has no wind...so its gonna be exciting.
The livestream will be exciting to warch to follow who gonna win!

I remember Martin Vari was thinking of putting a door nob on his board to make it easier to spin it. That would also make it easier but at the end of the day
ok now I really want to see toby put a doorknob on his board and see what he can do with it

Well, the board spins would look smoother for sure. Specially the helicopter spin!

A kite is a kite, no?
When I moved from C to whatever Rebel is, I didn't really feel and change.
Maybe the C loop tighter now, but basically it is about having a pull with a non moving low kite.
If it is a big difference, he might have waited with the change.

Hey Toby, you could take a leaf out of Apple's book, patent your handle and call it an iKick flip device and the sue every kiteboard manufacturer that build a board with a handle! Ha ha ha! Oh man, I'm such a geek!
It's nice to try and predict the future progression of a style, but lets not rush to get there, the sport is evolving so quickly, I don't think we take much time to really enjoy every phase.
I think some people are able to change kites and boards and adapt quickly, youri might be one of them?
As to dre's comment about strapless surf airstyle, man Mitu Montero was busting some big strapless airstyle moves in their Antandroy video! It was my favorite part of the video! A bit of skateboarding style in the too with, shoveits, kick flips and Ollie 180's!

Cool to see you here Dre, and great informative post! For sure not going to argue with you on the boots vs straps matter
Cool video you posted btw!
The event at China just kicked off, saw they expected competitions to start tomorrow, so will be very exciting to watch now! Hope they have the livestream on... Youri vs Pastor!!!

Looks like he´ll fly Slingshot to the end of PKRA this year after all... Probably a clever move having a shared first place in the ranking not changing kites to one he´s not used to yet...

Unless I'm wrong he was riding the rpm at first and later the GP in the 3rd roundup vid. I guess that he used the big rpm for light winds.
