Don't know where you are located, but right now in the US with cold weather coming, this is the perfect time to buy a kite. There are great deals on new and used kites.

Some used kites are going for so cheap, you'll probably be able to try it out all winter and then sell it for more in the spring if you don't like it.

For the price of a new 2013 Switchblade ($2000 for a 12m with bar :o ), you can buy 2 or 3 used 2012 kites to try.
Im located in Slovenia, near Italy. We have some good spots near and before the winter there should be really good winds, but for now not much :/..
