This old bugger is a Kite Grandad about to turn 70. My local group of Kite Geezers are aged 72, 70, 68, 60 and a few young pups in their 50's. Tampa/Sarasota/St Pete gets a number of Boomers retiring to warm, sunny and windy SW Florida. We are just as passionate about learning to do back rolls and jumps as our young kiting buddies.

Nice thread! I 'm 44, very fit, no ACLs and two partially resected menisci due to basketball and football, but no knee instability during kiting Kitesurfing, biking, swimming and a bit of weight training if there is no wind at all. My Flysurfer Sp3 15 has done me a lot of good by letting me exercise in sub-10 winds. My schoolmates look 5-10 years older, body and soul. I am soooooo grateful that I came across kiting

We know quite a few kitesurfers around 73 still regularly kiting, one of them is a regular at our main beach. He is not just out there all weathers, he's also jumping and doing rotations too with a constant big grin on his face!

Brilliant!
At 41 I feel like a baby in this thread...
Definitely agree that keeping moving is best , especially for my back. Swimming and surfing helping my overall.fitness soooo much, also simple healthy eating. Even one day a week just fruit helps cleanse the system.
Inspirational thread, thank you!

For those of you with back problems I strongly recommend that you do these planks at least 3 times per week. When you can do the following with perfect form I'll bet your back will feel a lot better: 1. regular plank - hold for 2 minutes 2. side plank - hold for 1 minute (remember to do other side too) 3. single leg hip bridge (1 minute then do other side) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNjAIzjGkskI hope they help you as much as they did me. I'm 74 and not only riding, but am still an active instructor (IKO Level 2 Senior). I'm, wondering if I am the oldest kiteboard instructor?

You guys are a true inspiration! I hope i can get to the 70s being so active, makes me feel like i shouldnt complain anymore at being 41 and 'old'. At my age im working on learning airpasses and feel old at times to try, wish i had started kiting earlier and not at 36 but thats life...what is sure is after reading many of you the inspiration came, thanks for that!
