Some of the industry/public kite figures kept it real, some very much didn't. When the actual riders/competitors of a sport (KBR) are asked not to contribute their opinions to debate, you know something is up, and it was.

Without grassroots riders making the decisions for their sport, no one will turn up. Some may take a golden carrot on a stick and possibly get stuck, but generally the riders will hold the status quo at ISAF/IKA/PRKA/Potential Olympic type events, and if not, no one will bother turning up to compete.

What do you call it? Perhaps, land body-dragging. You get extra style points if your kite is doing a death spiral at the same time :o

Apart from anything else, Isn't Windsurfing racing more interesting to watch than kitesurf racing? U can't get near each other in kitesurf racing?? I'm a kiter through and through love freestyle and racing but just trying to be objective about what joe public might wanna c

I think that Kiteracing is a lot more interesting to whatch. Just look at the vids from the worlds. Looks damm cool. And at the start they are very close to each other. Windsurfing is just like sailing. And yes, I used to windsurf, but the first time I saw kiteboarding I was hooked. And it goes for freestyle, waves and race. Race might looks like a borring discipline, but when you first try those boards you have to admire the top guys controling that shit. I can do a slim on command, a strapless 360 on command but a simple roll tack on a raceboard - here I often fall in the water. Maybe it is just practice like everything else, but just shows that you dont just step up on those boards and go. And just how amazing 100 kites looks on a starting line - that is the pictures you will miss at the Olympics. What a shame. Kitesurfing for sure is the future. Them old corrupt men are not! But now when it is not 2016, it will be interesting if the foilrace will developed to be the next thing ? That is the cool thing about kitesurfing. It develope constantly. And is influenced from all action sports. There should be no box rules or one design in kitesurfing. Our sport is to think out of the box and limitless!!

FredBGG....I really don't get winging f****** like you...if you don't like something, don't do it. Stop trying to tell everyone else they can't do it cos you don't like it! If it wern't for risk takers and people pushing the limits then sports like this wouldn't exist.

It is only out of the Olympics because of the dumb ass companies
and their almost total disregard for safety and a long term vision of a true "industry".

Just look at just about any dumb kite company video. Promotion for them seems to equate with taking stupid risks and making that the image of kite surfing.

Just look at the total lack of helmets in their videos and endless "pro" kiters doing lame ass beach buzzes at high speed in shallow water.

Just look at the story of Theo Fusban. He broke his neck in shallow water and is now a quadriplegic
trying desperately to recover.

A few "pro" kiters got together and autographed a board and auctioned it off to help Theo. They probably raised enough to pay for less than a week of therapy that he will have to do for many many years.

The same "caring pro" kiters still make the same lame promo video.

Pastor and Zoon

You can find video of these two doing the same dangerous shit in shallow water, as well as the other "pros".
Even the manufacturer of the board that was donated has videos of high speed bullshit in inches of water.

They really don't give a shit or are just too stupid to realize what they are doing.

maybe it will take a good class action lawsuit to wake them up.

Going back to kiteracing. Just look at the ISAF promo video for kiteracing. The riders are riding very close to each other at very high speed on choppy waters. They are riding these large boards with massive sword shaped sharp fins AND NO FUCKING PROTECTIVE GEAR.

All this bullshit about the box rule that is really just to make things easier for the companies, but there is absolutely no safety gear required.

A high speed accident at the front of the pack could lead to a real mess.

Message to the kitesurfing industry. TIME TO FUCKING GROW UP!

Cool is when your customers can still walk.

IF you wonder why this pisses me off... well it's because I know a thing or two about what it means to be paralyzed. I have a cousin that is a paraplegic due to an accident.

Kitesurfing can still be incredibly spectacular and just as cool with a better approach to safety.

Fred, you are way off buddy.

Do you really want people wearing full body Armour when kite surfing?

It's people like you that sue skate board companies because their son fell off the board and broke his wrist.

I do not, however, believe you can dictate safety in an extreme sport where the goal is to push the limit and try new things.
I agree, but I'm not talking about pushing the limits and truly advanced skills. I'm talking about those lame show off shots charging around kicking up a rooster tail in inches of water or pointlessly buzzing a beach or jumping a few feet in the air over rocks.

Kite company videos are full of this rubbish and kids tent to emulate what the companies put out.

On top of that this type of rubbish is also what often leads to beach closures. The sport isn't going anywhere when it gets banned at more and more beaches.
If your child is dumb f*** enough to copy what they see in movies, then you have failed as a parent.

Another key factor that we have not brought up, is sea weed. How would kiterace look like at the Olympics in 2020 if a country with seaweed is selected ? We would look like beginners ;) So maybe this should be taken in to consideration as well
